Default free pit bull

my friend is unfortunately having to get rid of her dog, due to them not being able to find an apt that allows pits. they are keeping him in the backyard of a neighboring house for sale, but as soon as a realtor or prospective buyer sees him, i'm sure that will be the end of that. if noone takes him, they will be forced to take him to the SPCA, where they will kill him simply because of his breed, please dont let this dog die. he is a 1 yr 8 mos old pit bull, very affectionate, and was raised around kids. here are a couple pics:

Dam, if it was closer I would take him. I love my pitbull and wouldn't mind another.

try www.pitbullcorner.com or www.pitbullforum.com or call a rescue. There are many rescues that will take the dog in. I just don't know of any your way. Please do some research on the folks taking the dog as well, you never know who may end up with him. I will do my best as well.

Search around on the net before you bring him to be put down. There are plenty of people around the country that will take him in, trust me you just have to look thats all.

Good looking dog, if I didn't already have 2 I would take him in for sure. I'll get the word out though.

Your friend is a sorry excuse for a Pitbull owner. My dog is a Pitbull, I have found many apartments in Houston that allow them, even up to 100 lbs. The SPCA isn't going to kill him because of his breed, your friend is going to kill him becuase he is an irresponsable dog owner, and shouldn't have had this dog in the first place. He's just looking for an easy way out.

i wasn't going to go there but stretch is right. another option is to go to local adoption/rescue organizations. they usually have weekly adoptions and will let you bring your dog to help find a home. i've done that with 3 strays i've found. she won't find a home right away though. it will take some time and effort but she at least owes the dog that much.

I disagree hes not looking for a easy way out , hes looking for a person that would take and love this dog instead of calling the spca to pick him up. I know how hard it is to find a apartment that will accept pits I have 2. I have went to apartments that allow dogs over 50 pounds and offerd 2000 dollar deposit and still no go. So 3 yrs ago I leased a house and showed them a picture of my grandmothers dog to lease it. Even now that I own my house I still show my insurance company pics of my grandmothers dog

He's not . . . but SHE is, or at least that's the way that the post reads.

Either way, he or she is a sorry excuse for a dog owner. You're talking about keeping the dog unsupervised in the yard next door, then about taking him to the SPCA. Either way this dude/chick is looking for the easy way out. You don't just "give away" a healthy dog to anyone.

Bullshit. I've had my dog for over 3 years now, and at 4 different apartment complexes. I'm looking for a place to move to in September and I found 5 places that will take my dog - after only 1 day of looking around! Prices range from $600 to well over $1000, and this is all within the loop. Don't cry and say, "there aren't any other options available. PLEASE HELP!"

Tell your friend to find someone to adopt/rescue the dog (which should be EASY if he is so friendly), or do the responsible thing and keep the him. It's people like her that give this breed a bad name. Making posts like this and making statements like "no apartements will let me keep this dog" only further increases the bad reputation these dogs have. I'd be surprised if this dog didn't come from some backyard breeder or mall pet shop, which also ruins the breed further.

Im proud you've found places that would accept your dog. I wish I could have found these place when I was looking, I was just saying what I have experienced in the past, But like I said most places dont accept this breed. I have farmers insurence on my house and when I asked my Insurence agent about me buying a pit he told me flat out that my rates will go up.

As far as putting a dog in another persons yard is uncalled for I agree that is very irresponsible. I personally would never give my dogs up for anything hell in fact they just go to the back yard to play and to do there buisness other than that they stay in the ac while im in school and my fiance is at work.

Ive sent this link to all my freinds to see if someone would take him if the guy posted earlier dosent.

How the hell does backyard breeding ruin the breed. If youll look in the past thats how the dogs came about backard breeding. Btw both of my pitts are adba registerd to the hilt. My male is chinamen top and bottom and my female is red boy and negerino.

i have farmers insurance for my parents house and they didnt say **** about my pit. ive told em about it too and she (my agent) said it doesnt matter. im also looking for places to move out and ive found quiet few NICE apt that allow PITBULLs. or any kind of dogs that are less then 100lbs. deposit is required anywhere from 500-1200 but still i can keep him.

either way, i hope he finds a nice home and responsible OWNER!!

ok, to the guy bitching, they are keeping the dog in the empty yard because her mother is remodeling the house, and the contractors will not allow the dog to be on the property. they knew this going into the deal, but at the time, her stepdad said that he would watch the dog for them. well, he picked up the rott, since it was actually his dog, but told them they were screwed as far as spud goes. the dog is her b/fs dog that he has had since it was a puppy (and its a year and 8 months old now), and he moved in with them from conroe. she said they could not find an apt within their price range (not everyone has 500-2000+ dollars just sitting around for a pet deposit) that would allow pitbulls, its not like they havent been looking, but they are in a tough spot right now. he is on call 24 hrs/day, and she works full time on top of taking care of her 3 yr old. so please keep the ******* comments to yourself

mike96z, i do not have any other pics, that is just what i got off their myspace, but i will get in touch with her and get her to send you more pics if she has any, but at least put her in contact with you

Agreed. There are many dog rescue organizations that will take him and find a good home. I would, but I have a 133 lb. Rotty.
