I don't know about Texas, but in some states it is 100% illegal for cops to sit on private property to run speed traps (or red light traps). They can ONLY do it from public property, like easements or side streets or alleys...you get the point. If I got a ticket in that area I'd have to check into fighting it...

May be seen in a different light by the judicial system. Now you can explain that you weren't trying to hinder the Police officer's duty, but you simply helping him accomplish the duty that he's there for...It could work in theory. I look forward to seeing the video on how this all works out for you. Good luck.
I like the way you think..

My cousin did do this in amarillo and they did cuff him and just wrote him a ticket. I think his sign said "speed trap slow down." Also tho i think he ran a little ways before they got him. Ill get the details and let ya know. I would do it and not get caught because im certain it is illegal. I hate the law.

Just be sure Texas doesn't have a wiretapping law like Pennsylvania if you decide to videotape the police.

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,284075,00.html

Short: guy videotapes a traffic stop, now faces felony charges for wiretapping.

I guess its like cops hauling *** down the road with no lights on. I have followed a couple before doing at least 80. We ended up at the same place and both of the cops looked all pissed at me. They asked why I was following them and speeding. I simply said that if they can break the law then I should be able to tag along.

Put the sign up, screw what he says.

I dont know how they didnt try to give you a ticket for that. I'd never have the ***** to speed behind a cop.
