Which Cobras are supposed to be fast?

Which Cobras are supposed to be fast? I raced an older (90's) one today, just to see how it ran an totally put a beat down on it, without the juice. I know there's a general concensus on here that there are some fast ones, but just don't race enough to know the difference.

They were all 13 sec factory cars till the 03/04 snakes (exception 2000R). I had a 94, 01 and 03 cobra with the 99 formula in-between the 94/01 years, and now a low mile 01 Z/28. Personally, I am never satisfied with one car for too long, so thus the change back to GM. A bolt-on 99-01 snake can surprise you, but you really only need to worry about the 03-04 cobras, and the GT500, albeit the Gt500s are practically lane barges....However, my friend Gary has a GT500 with a pulley change, CAI, and mail order tune, it was fairly impressive with just those mods...

I was riding with a guy one time in his 01? Cobra (catback, CAI) when we raced a similiar year GT (catback) and it was about dead even.
The guy in the GT was happy when he saw that we were in a Cobra and he kept up. And my buddy thought his Cobra would be my Z. 
Nice car, but not the speed demon he told me it was.
