Glock 18 = Class III
To set the record straight here are the facts:
To be a Class III firearms dealer it's $500.00 per year. This entiles you to transfer, buy and sell Class III firearms and weapons.
To own a Class III firearm it's a one time $200.00 transfer tax from the ATF and whatever the dealer charges for his services. There are no additional charges from the ATF until you want to sell it and once again there is a $200.00 transfer tax.
In states where it is legal to own a Class III firearm, only those made before 1986 are legal to own. If you are a dealer and can get a letter from someone who meets the ATF criteria to request a demo of a Class III firearm, demo unit are available.
If the Dealer Sample (Demo unit) was made prior to 1986, the dealer can keep it in his private collestion after he gives up his Class III license. It can only be returned to the maker, the ATF or transfered to another dealer with the proper paperwork to get a demo unit. It can not be transfered to anyone else.
And yes, they are fun to play with!!!
