Need advice on diminished value

Need advice on diminished value Long story short, my wife was hit by an a$$hole that had no insurance and we had to use our uninsured motorist coverage. Allstate offered us diminished value, but said we needed to go to a dealership and get an appraisal ? Any suggestions on how to go about doing this ? The vehicle is a Buick Rendezvous.

I didn't think TX insurance co. paid diminished value anymore.

but would you explain something? The ******* with no insurance hits your wife. Your wife obviously has full coverage, but that doesnt cover her car?You have to use your "uninsured motorist" insurance? I ask cause I turned that portion of my policydown. But if I ever get in a wreck I would bet the person wouldn't have insurance.
