Default Need advice on diminished value

Long story short, my wife was hit by an a$$hole that had no insurance and we had to use our uninsured motorist coverage. Allstate offered us diminished value, but said we needed to go to a dealership and get an appraisal ? Any suggestions on how to go about doing this ? The vehicle is a Buick Rendezvous.

Thanks in advance,
Ernie

Ernie, take it to the Buick dealership, and ask them to appraise it. Send the apprasial to your insurance company.

I didn't think TX insurance co. paid diminished value anymore.

"The Texas Supreme Court correctly ruled that the contract language is clear-cut and does not require the payment for diminished value when a vehicle has been fully and adequately repaired," said Donald Hanson, southwestern regional manager for the National Association of Independent Insurers (NAII).

but would you explain something? The ******* with no insurance hits your wife. Your wife obviously has full coverage, but that doesnt cover her car?You have to use your "uninsured motorist" insurance? I ask cause I turned that portion of my policy
down. But if I ever get in a wreck I would bet the person wouldn't have insurance.

Find a deminised value appaiser. No matter how well a car is fixed you will lose value simply for the fact the general public have been scared in thinking a wrecked car can neven be made right.

Will350,
Never be without unisured motorist. Its cheap and too many ******** without coverage out there.

Definetely add uninsured coverage, if your luck is like mine it will be some a$$hole with no insurance and you're just stuck out.
