look it up and the microsoft place is in texas somewhere, believe its over here, if you have ever seen that microsoft building or not, but you could probably save time on shipping it, go to www.xbox.com

Ok ... Is it 3 red flashing lights ? If so , you are in luck Microsoft has issued an extended warranty on the Xbox for this very reason. mine did that 2 weeks ago and I called them and they take care of it on their tab.... All you have to do is call 1-800-4my-xbox and speak to a customer service rep they will set it up... They send you a empty box with a pre-paid return label to send it in , repair it and ship it back... In my case they sent me a brand new unit along with a 1 month Xbox lve card... Pretty sweet deal huh....

I got mine back from having in repaired about 3 weeks ago, it took them about 5 business days and it was FREEEEEEEEEEE. The number MellowYellow is the one I called. The three red rings usually means that your 360 got overheated. After you get it back you should get a fan for it to keep it cool

Pft...PS3 isnt anything special but 300$ more. Unless it is a PS only game you seek.

I have had mine for 4 or 5 months now, no problems, it did go red once, i restarted it and it has been fine since.

sorry but every ps3 ive gotten my hands on has frozen up too much, the ring of death is because they had some bad chips given to them that run too hot and will eventually give up. I had my xbox360 get the ring of death after only 4 months, if you buy one now, you may get a new one, you may not, check by the serial, it has the manufacturer date. They didnt recall them, they just extended the warranty from 30 days to 3 yrs until they are all fixed. The xbox 360 is an overall better console over the ps3 anyday. Ive switched so many ps3 guys to 360's.

just look on the box, it will have a place to punch out a square in the box, that has the serial behind it, it will have the serial and will say manufacturer date, the new one i picked up was sometime in 2006

The new ones they are building have smaller processors which run cooler. Should fix the problem.

If you buy a new one, get the white one with HDMI. It has the 65nm chipset and all the fixes.

I dont think the size of the processor matters, it was the manufacturer of the original processors that made the fault in them.

It was actually the design in the way the heatsinks were attached to the motherboard. They used a "X" type band. The board heats up so hot, the "X" clamp bends the board and the chips start to unsoldier from the board. Which is what causes the ring of death.

I have read all over the internet of people shipping them in to microsoft and supposedly getting them fixed. Then you read more only to find out that they are on their 3rd and 4th xbox due to this problem.

If you are asking how did I fix mine, I did some googling on the problem. Found 2 different methods that basically did the same thing. It removes the "X" clamp and changes it out to bolts that hold the board down.

If you are scared to do it and your machine is out of warrenty (as mine was), then PM me.
