Default Optima Battery.....worth it?

I am buying a new battery for my ride. I could buy a red top battery or a top of the line Interstate (insert whatever brand here), a bunch of air fresheners, wheel cleaner and Danzig cd's. JK...is the Optima worth almost twice as much as a non gel battery? Opinions wanted. Thanks for the look

Optima's are gel cells. They are advertised as gel. Not liquid like 99.9% of batteries.

I think that's why he said he liked his Optima and would get a gel (Optima) next time around.

I dont know if its bad luck or what but i have had a couple of redtops within the course of a year and they both failed on me. I now have an interstate and that thing is verry dependable and always keeps its charge..

thats because you bought a 78dt series optima. these cars use the 35dt series. on another note. yes the optimas worth the money. where a wet cell battery will be lucky to see 3-4 years my optima has been with me for 8 years. with zero probs. even was in my green car when i rolled and crashed it. still works like a charm!

I thought the starter was going to break off after I put my red top in. That LS1 never busted over so fast in its life.

Had a red top for 3 mos. and it died--no warning. Returned it for a Duralast gold top and got 50 buck back also. The duralast has been fine since I put it in. Also have duralast in the wifes Navigator and the Maxima work car--both are awesome. Optima makes a good battery, I just must have gotten a dud. My gold top duralast has a 5yr. free replacement warranty.
