Have you ever been in an accident before? Your kind of scarred shitless for about a week sometimes more until you can shake that "street fright" for a while, then things start to sink back in and yes your back on the road but this time a much better rider/driver!
Glad to hear your okay and made it out alive. I've been riding for a few years now and haven't had a accident yet. More close calls than I care to have (including being bounced into on coming traffic because of a shitty road). It'll eventually happen, especially if you ride in the DFW. But the feeling of going 175+ or just crusining around town on sundays keeps me going.

Anyway, you are pretty much guaranteed a mishap your first year of riding. The percentage is literally 99.2%. Doesn't matter what kind of bike you have either. There probably is an exception to the "owners" over the "riders" though. The lawyers, bankers, and "ride only on sunny days with 0 wind and 85 degrees people" probably have a lower percentage. I daily mine, and practically knew that something was going to happen to me in the first 5 months of owning it. Hell I damn near dropped it in the parking lot 2 seconds after I bought the thing! I decided to drop a nut instead by keeping it from touching the ground.

As you can see, it only takes a split second to go down. Please, please, please - wear your brain buckets!!!
