the kid that caused this was 18, just got his license, no drivers ed, no insurance, not even his car, he actually didnt have his license at the time he hit me, but had it at home, but, we finally found out that the car owner had isnurance and thats gonna cover me, so thats nice, the bike was totaled
had surgery 6/27 and it went well, kinda, turned out it was worse than he thought it would be and some muscle came unatached from i think the femur and now everything recovery wise was postponed, instead of walkin in 6 weeks, i cant put pressure on it for 4-6 weeks, i havent even bent it yet and was suppose to be doin that the day of surgery as soon as i got home
not how i had expected this summer to go, not bein able to walk since 6/11 and then findin out that i really wont be walkin til right at the end, but owell, i should be thinkin how lucky i am
ok, i think i covered everything, now for the pics

be glad you went up and over, in my wreck i was under the car cause i had enough just time to grab brakes and got a little to much rear and laid the bike down and i went under the front bumper and bike bounced off the front of the car sliding had a nice tire tread on top of the helmet where she had tried to keep going, ended up with 7 broken bones luckly didnt have to have surgery but screwed up my left knee a little bit and my upper body on my right side was bad, seperated shoulder, really badly broken collarbone (the only thing holding it together still is a big calcium deposit where the break was) 3-broken bones in my hand and severly dislocated finger (hand still isnt all there) being stuck in the bed sucks i can vouch for that i was there for 3-4 weeks before i could move without a lot of pain and then another 6 months or so to completely recover
best of luck on the recovery for ya

my first one i ended up dumping my bike in a field when a car pulled out in front of me while I was doing 85mph. I rag dolled pretty hard but only had scrapes and bruises.
Good thing you were wearing a helmet though. I had a buddy that went out for a little joy ride to relieve some tension built up from the work week. He thought it would clear his head better if he didnt wear a helmet. He ended up blowing a rear tire and dumping the bike while doin a stand up down 360. Pretty stupid thing to do.

yea never was on that bike w/ out a helmet, usually had the jacket on, not that time, not sure why but it worked out good i guess, luckily i went over the hood and not into the door or somethin
Hmmmm. Sounds all to familiar to me. Damage even looks identical. your front fork is toast though that is for certain! https://ls1tech.com/forums/texas-members/610590-glad-i-have-life-insurance-bike-fixed.html
Glad to hear about the positive outcome. I have been adding the bike fatalities up, at least the ones I have heard about this summer.... I know of 6 in the DFW area this year.
I bought it hard on a dirt bike on April 16, 1986 at about 5:30 p.m. at the Power Plant at Lake Ray Hubbard. I thought I was past the spot I went down... instead of being in 1st gear I was hard into it in 3rd, went into a gully and got twisted up with the bike. Really bad day for me! I was 21. The bike was just fine though, bent the handle bars, tore a grip... that's it.
Rt. knee.... tore everything that could have been torn. My orthopedic guy did not know if he could repair it, he told me his goal was to save the leg instead of repairing the joint...and this is a guy who had learned the ropes in the Army serving in the Korean War! I have over 18" of scars on that knee. 8 hrs. of surgery later and I was back together. He did a very good job. 7 months of therapy later I was learning how to trust the joint again when involved in sports activities. LoL, that summer I was designated driver for every damned thing including the ski boat! I had some good friends that kept me busy back then.
Today, 21 years later... it rarely bothers me. Instead of being sore after I've overdone it it gets very tired, can't sit in a car for long road trips... gotta keep it moving or it gets stiff. Sucks getting older with a repaired leg is all I can say.
Do EVERYTHING your PT people tell you to and then push yourself to do more.... you only get one chance to rehab a bad injury like that! Since my therapy all those years ago I have never, not one time been back top see a Dr. for my knee. I guess I am lucky huh?
Good luck.

yea, the rehab's a bitch, but its going good, actually stopped going after my appointment this morning, on my own just hittin the gym every day from here on out, sounds like me and you had about the same injury just seems like mine was a lot less involved i guess due to advances in surgery technique, a lot of mine was using a scope and no 15 inches of scars
and orangepeel, that sucks, good to hear you made it out alright and will be riding again

Go after his insurance for 3 times the amount of your medical bills and for pain and suffering.
A drunk 17 year old almost hit me head on. Long story short my wife and I got $22K in a settlement.
