my motorcycle wreck
the kid that caused this was 18, just got his license, no drivers ed, no insurance, not even his car, he actually didnt have his license at the time he hit me, but had it at home, but, we finally found out that the car owner had isnurance and thats gonna cover me, so thats nice, the bike was totaled
had surgery 6/27 and it went well, kinda, turned out it was worse than he thought it would be and some muscle came unatached from i think the femur and now everything recovery wise was postponed, instead of walkin in 6 weeks, i cant put pressure on it for 4-6 weeks, i havent even bent it yet and was suppose to be doin that the day of surgery as soon as i got home
not how i had expected this summer to go, not bein able to walk since 6/11 and then findin out that i really wont be walkin til right at the end, but owell, i should be thinkin how lucky i am
ok, i think i covered everything, now for the pics

Good thing you were wearing a helmet though. I had a buddy that went out for a little joy ride to relieve some tension built up from the work week. He thought it would clear his head better if he didnt wear a helmet. He ended up blowing a rear tire and dumping the bike while doin a stand up down 360. Pretty stupid thing to do.
I bought it hard on a dirt bike on April 16, 1986 at about 5:30 p.m. at the Power Plant at Lake Ray Hubbard. I thought I was past the spot I went down... instead of being in 1st gear I was hard into it in 3rd, went into a gully and got twisted up with the bike. Really bad day for me! I was 21. The bike was just fine though, bent the handle bars, tore a grip... that's it.
Rt. knee.... tore everything that could have been torn. My orthopedic guy did not know if he could repair it, he told me his goal was to save the leg instead of repairing the joint...and this is a guy who had learned the ropes in the Army serving in the Korean War! I have over 18" of scars on that knee. 8 hrs. of surgery later and I was back together. He did a very good job. 7 months of therapy later I was learning how to trust the joint again when involved in sports activities. LoL, that summer I was designated driver for every damned thing including the ski boat! I had some good friends that kept me busy back then.
Today, 21 years later... it rarely bothers me. Instead of being sore after I've overdone it it gets very tired, can't sit in a car for long road trips... gotta keep it moving or it gets stiff. Sucks getting older with a repaired leg is all I can say.
Do EVERYTHING your PT people tell you to and then push yourself to do more.... you only get one chance to rehab a bad injury like that! Since my therapy all those years ago I have never, not one time been back top see a Dr. for my knee. I guess I am lucky huh?
Good luck.
g
and orangepeel, that sucks, good to hear you made it out alright and will be riding again
A drunk 17 year old almost hit me head on. Long story short my wife and I got $22K in a settlement.
