Default cleaned up the engine bay! PIX

Saturday, my girlfriend finally let me step in and do some routine maintanence to her Trans Am. It's an '01 that was stock with a blowmaster.

Before I started doing anything, I proceeded to clean under the hood. There was a lot of grime and dirt from 6 years of daily driving with no cleaning. I didn't get things perfect as I didnt have all day but I like to think that I at least helped everything out by getting most of the grime out. There is still quite a bit of crap on the underside of the hood that I couldnt get out. I think its going to take some heavy cleaner for that.

I changed her throttle body with my old stock ported one. I opened up under her air lid so it could breath better. I found 4 plastic bags and countless dead bugs in front of the radiator/AC. I planned on changing the plugs but ran out of time after doing the car's first brake job ever and only having 2 1/2 hours of sleep the night before.

I still have a lot more work to do under there to get it up to par but what I liked the best is the little difference that I did made her get the mod bug going. Now its going to get a new air lid, K&N, pulley, tune, and new exhaust. Once I get it peppier and cleaner, it will be time to dig into her '69 ss camaro!!!

I alway took mine to the car wash the high presure is just irreplaceable when cleaning under the hood or the undercarriage. Looks goos though Randy don't get too carried away with fnacy cleaners as some of them will stain things under there.

All i used was a brush with a bucket of water and some Turtle Wax Car Wash.

I shined up the plastic air box with some Turtle Wax tire shine and wiped it off.

I am going to clean all of her looms and hoses probably this weekend if I can find some time.

I like to use Simple Green and/or foamy engine brite if it's dirty enough. Make sure you dilute the SG and rinse thoroughly.

Nice work...big improvement. I clean my engine just about everytime I wash my car with diluted Simple Green and rinse it off with the hose. Haven't experienced any problems.

How do you keep your AC condenser so polished? Mine used to look like that but now I cant seem to keep it shiny.

I just use some neverdull and shine it everyonce in a while. I'm sure any aluminum polish would work too.

Definately looks better than before. Hit the hoses, loome, plastic cowling, fuse covers, and intake with the foaming tire cleaner too. Just use any metal polish on the condensor
Eagle 1 makes some polish on cotton wadding that was very easy to use and worked well. I think that may be the Neverdull DopeFed mentioned.

Here is a shot of the engine bay of my daily driver. I don't clean it every time I wash though.
