Cylinder Head Work Needed

Who can check out a set of heads here in East Texas? I might need to have some valve guides put in but I can't check the run-out on them to determine their condition. At the very least I need them resurfaced. The local shops in Tyler, TX sux ***** and don't know what they are doing.

there are some very good shops in tyler, thats where im from, my dad did my LT1 heads and he used a shop down there to do the valve job etc. I could see what the name was for you. But again there are some dumbasses there too.

Lloyd is good people. TEA, PRC, and a few other companies on the board can send you a CNC set of whatever you want. I wouldnt limit youself by geographic standards.

I wouldnt say PRC (TSP) is a joke. They put down some pretty good numbers like TEA does. Most CNC programs come from the same pool of knowledge. Be it from the same dude or guys that come from the same school. As far as ported LS1 heads go, its pretty well figured out. They have been around plenty long for all the tricks to be brought to light.

I sent my (already ported) LT1 heads to PortPros in Austin after my timing gear broke. They did everything you're talking about on yours (valve guides, valve job, new seals, clean up the surface, new valves). I even had them flow the heads. I'm happy with the results.

UPS shipping to Austin shouldn't be too bad, since they're in TX. It was maybe $20 to ship the heads.
