Default Texas vs: the World @ HRP

Well I saw Wormboy and Paco out running True 10.5 in the qualifying rounds today. I'm not 100% positive but, it seemed like they were having some of the same troubles as us and everyone else with trying to just get down the track without blowing the tires off. All we could manage tonight was a spinning 5.35 with an 8 @136mph. I was really unimpressed with the track preparation today. I hope it is better tomorrow for eliminations. Good luck to any of you guys racing out here this weekend. If the track is as bad tomorrow we are all going to need it!

Seems like it got better as the night went on, but to be honest I took my street car there on friday night and was pretty pissed at the way they handled the lanes. Not to mention they FORCED anyone that wasn't in a drag car to stay out of the groove. Why even have street night if you can't use the track? Pretty shitty night for sure, 2 hours in the staging lane only to be forced to launch on the side of the track.

Yea, I have no idea why they had a street night on friday while the had a big event going on. They had you guys in lanes 1-4 cramed together all the way out to the fence and beyond. It's really messed up the track for everyone, and it completely ruined test and tune time for the other racers. Your right, it didn't seem very well organized or planned.

They need to close the track for street cars when big events are in town. I was very tempted to give them a piece of my mind the other night. This isn't the first time these guys have screwed the line up.

Yeah you should for sure. We've been rolling VIP with Franco from Tiremax all day. Make sure you check out their tent when you get there. Can't miss it, it's the one with the Lambo in front of it.

Yea, we didn't go there specifically for test and tune Friday. You had to get their Friday to claim a spot in the pits unless you wanted to park in the rocks and grass. It was my understanding initially that when you were there and setup on Friday, that that afternoon and night was going to be open only to the event racers in any class for test and tune purposes. I guess I was wrong though. We only got to make one pass Friday night that wasn't even worth the fuel, and it would have taken another two or three hours worth of waiting to make another pass if we wanted to. Qualifying rounds were on Saturday and Eliminations are Sunday.

It was definitely a badass event. I got knocked out in the third round of the 7.00 index.

Well today the track wasn't much better. We lost against another Nova in the first round of eliminations due to wheel spin when the second hit of nitrous came on. We then raced against Paco in the 2nd chance race and we both red lit somehow. We blew the tires off again during that race with a 10 pound weight adjustment and a detune, but had the lesser of the red lights . Paco would have beat us as he actually made it down the track. There were 9 races in a row that either one or both cars red lit which makes me wonder about the tree. Both racers agreed that the light was bogus. All it did was give us another chance to blow the tires off, and we did with a terrible 60' and a spin on the second hit. I believe we lost with a 5.45 @ 136 against a 5.41. I also got to see Worm boy race a little in stock suspension. He took out Slim Shady and progressed to the next round. Hey Steven what was the deal with the mosquito fogging at the end of the track on that race? The left lane was completely gone a little after they ran and when he came back he was in the left lane and got pretty loose and lost that round. The next 5 or 6 racers in the left lane after that point blew the tires off. All it came down to was extremely poor track prep. Their track prep makes me want to HMP here we come!

It wasn't by a silver 67' Camaro with black flamed racing stripes was it? Alan's son Chance won that 7.00 index. He has won his last three event's in a row. Pretty good for a 16 year old...

I wonder how Nickens liked that track prep...

Anyways, it seems HRP is getting a pretty bad rep. That old fat guy at the starting lines was pissing everyone off, rushing eveyone to get staged. I think it was a guy in a 1st gen Camaro a little slow getting staged, so the old guy just about DQ'd him until he finally pulled up. Ended up winning that round.

Yea, I would like to hear from some of the other guys racing this event as well...

I have no idea who that guy was but at one point it looked like a few guys wanted to knock his lights out! And, what was the deal with letting all the people line up against the guardrail and at the burnout box. I could invision a few of them getting creamed.
