I have my optima battery in the spare tire location. What I carry is a small air compresor and a can of fix a flat. That should be enough.

D/D here. Jack and spare in the trunk. I've been stuck out without a spare before, and it'll never happen again.

Thats fine if you want to wait for it to pump (its been my eperience that they are dead slow) an don't mind that crap all over your wheels.

I try not to run one......

on a serious note...a short distance (like from where you would change the flat to a tire shop) wouldn't hurt the posi. running it for days or weeks....sure. .....At the same time if you have a tire that gets fucked up and replaced with a new one 1/2 way through the tire life.....this happens alot with road hazard situations where they cannot repair the tire and replace it with a new one but you still have the tire on the other side that has 1/2 of the tread gone.....that CAN cause alot of posi wear that most people dont think about......

the fix a flat (or similar) is great as long as the tire isn't shredded.

bottom line....as long as you plan on a way to take care of your flat WHEN (not if) it happens then It really doesn't matter if you use a spare or not. the spare is the cheaper and probly the most convient though because alot of times it takes the tow trucks 30 mins to an hour to show up.

when i'm in College Station, it's pretty much pointless to have that, since it would be more of a hassle to call & wait on a tow than it would be to just change it to a spare and go get the flat fixed/replaced yourself. plus, most of my family is in/around this area, so i'd rather call one of them for help than some tow truck driver that doesn't give a **** about my ride.

and usually when i travel, it's mostly to Houston, so the city would just tow it there anyway....you may still be able to recover the towing fees with the insurance in that case, but i'm not really there enough for it to be worth my while.
