Finally found the real problem with my car...
quick time line...
Blew it up last year and ended up buying someone elses long block. Motor sat on the stand until apox 3 months ago
Finally put it together and drove it to work once. Seemed to run fine, good oil pressure, ect but just seemed to have slightly more vavle train noise than it should have. Much louder than what was in the car before even though it was the same cam grind.
1st thought maybe pushrods. I used the size the previous owner said to use so maybe he was slightly off. It was exactly dead on. In process notice 3 lifters pushed down with zero effort.
2nd thought dead lifters causing noise. Purchased and installed new lifters. No... still there
3rd doing a little research some people having my problem fixed it with the right Oring in the pickup. Pulled it apart again. I already had the right one but changed it just in case. No.... now ready for a match and some gasoline
Fast forward to last weekend. I said screw it I will just part it all out except the motor since by now I was thinking maybe I have a rod bearing starting to go.
So yesterday as I am pulling it apart I get the heads off and notice tiny shiny spots mid way down and the valve pockets in the pistons. Previous owner have been running it with the valves hitting the pistons just enough to polish a spot in each piston.
Moral of the story if you are going to flycut your pistons you might want to make sure its got enough for the 2.05 valves in the heads you are going to run.
Now I guess I will add the motor to my for sale ad.

The damage was always there I just didn't see it when I took it apart in the car. There is was several thousand miles on this motor. The noise must have not bothered the previous owner but is was driving me crazy.

i saw it was barely touching them and prolly was only touching 1 out of every 20 times it came up...it was polished but not really messsed up...the valve reliefs were just off by a little bit.......
