Few questions..
99z28 with new ls1
heads and cam from gto (30k)
73k on body
it's owned by a guy who runs a service dept at a chevy dealership, before his extended warranty went out he wrote up a bunch of tickets and had stuff replaced that wasnt broken
new clutch, master cylinder, slave cylinder and TOB but pressure plate has 100k on it
i drove it twice, once a week ago and once tonight
a couple of things i noticed were the rear end howled a tiny bit, it was very quiet and i've heard all 10 bolts do this - i know the rear is the weak point of these cars so thats the only thing that worries me
the trans shifted smooth when romping on it and went into all the gears just fine
there was a squeaking and when i would push the clutch it it would go away, let the clutch out and it would come back, it was the TOB im sure
supposedly its a new TOB which i dont doubt...i think its making the squeaking because the car has been beat on by the owner and me so much since the new engine/clutch (mostly me, the owner has romped on it 3 times with new motor/clutch) and that it wasnt broken in right, if i buy the car it will be replaced before then
so basically, my questions are, do i need to worry about the rear end noise?
what are some things to watch out for when buying the car particularly?
i know i left a bunch of stuff out and will tell you everything i know if you just ask, sorry for the confusing post and thanks for your help
oh yeah, car has full exhaust and a smooth bellow + k&n filter
old engine was a juiced ls6 and it's been tracked 6 times in it's life, best 60' was like 1.6 or 1.7 something and the best run was mid 11, the other runs were in the 12s
Other than that, way to step out of that slow 2v and into 12 seconds!
as for the car you are lookin at, it might just be me but i wouldn't get a car that has been pieced together like that. unless you are getting it for 7k or something or unless the body and interior are in great shape, wait and get what you want. i looked for 6 months before i got mine and man it was tough passin up a couple cars i could have had, but trust me, its worth it to find what you really want the first time around.
how is there 100k on the pressure plate but only 73k on the body?
the car was pieced together, but it was done by a GM master cert. mechanic
thats a good idea to offer him 700 less but use that for the reasoning, i know the rears on these cars are the weak points and thats why i was worried about it - the hum is there only when you hit the gas and it's pretty faint...how hard is it to replace the rears on these cars and how much does it cost?
the pressure plate has 100k because it came from another car
the interior is in almost perfect condition, only thing is the holes in the carpet from where the old bottle was at (old engine)
hes getting rid of the car because hes putting the old lsx into a porshce haha - he had big plans for the car but never got around to acting upon them
hes asking 8k for the car
pretty much:
73k on body (rear and trans)
200-300 mile on new engine
30k on ls1 heads and cam
squeaking TOB
slight whine from rear
and carl, that last run was a pretty good one, how have you been? man i've just been gong to school and working a lot

it's actually really really clean and the paint is in excellent condition as well as the interior, you wouldn't think its a 99
im gonna stick to my guns and say stear clear of it bub. I wouldn't advise anyone to buy a pieced together car like that. doesn't matter who its pieced together by, its still a pile of spare parts!
hell i found my car for pretty cheap w/GM ext warranty, one owner, and NO MODS(guys 45 year old wife drove it to work everyday & he drove a stock 00 Z28 to work) after lookin for a LONG time...just gotta wait for the right deal and a car thats in good shape!
What part of houston are you from? Hell i might be in town this weekend and could maybe run over and look the car over with you if you wanted.

If you enjoy drag racing, as your sig shows, you will probably end up getting a 12-bolt anyways. The stockers are junk once you start getting into the mid-11s
