Open carry of firearms in TX
I am all for open carry for everyone. The only people we don't want carrying, are generally the ones who will regardless of the law. Might as well reward the law abiding as well, instead of just the criminals.
And yea, the concealed permit is easy enough to get, but in the Texas heat, OWB carry is so much more comfortable.
And to the guy who said they don't like guns - guns aren't evil, just like alcohol isn't evil, and cars aren't evil. But between the 3 - that accounts for a LOT of deaths in this country. Don't see folks talking about about cars, now do you? It's not the tool that is the problem - it's the person holding it. Fix the problem, don't try to circumvent it.

I too have a CHL.. Carry an Ultralight 38 from time to time.. It's mostly in the car though.
I too would much rather fight a man with my fist's,forearms,elbows.. But, like stated above, there is always that guy out there that would rather shoot/scoot...
I got my CHL upon my return from Afghanistan,, got used to carrying and it kind of stayed with me.. you know.
Again, you never know what that other guy is capable of.. A forearm to the nose will usually de-escalate ANY altercation... If however, that guy gets up from that.. By all means..

you must lead a very naive, safe, and sheltered life. The criminal with the gun isn't going to put his gun down and put up his dukes at your request. Everyone would agree that fists should settle most violent disputes, but sadly that isn't the reality of things anymore.

I think if you have your CHL you should be able to carry on campus. I know a few states that have allowed this (with a CHL) for years without any problems that im aware of.
the benefit to open carry is that the would-be criminal sees your gun AHEAD of time and makes him think twice before trying to rob you, etc.
think about it... you are about to hold up a bank... you see several customers and/or clerks with open carry firearms. are you still going to hold up the bank, or are you going to think twice because you see people prepared to defend themselves.

Well I know it wil never happen I am just saying that in my opinion. No I dont live a sheltered life actually. I work as a personal trainer during the day and as a bouncer at night. I have had a gun pulled on me a few times and it sucks big time. Unfortunately we have to just back down and let them go cause we cant carry anything to protect ourselves. I just dislike guns and that is my own opinion
