Heh, That's pretty wild. Buy a gun and you can carry it? I am all for gun rights, but I don't really want anyone old enough to buy a gun to carry it around on their hip. It takes more responsibility and maturity to go through a CHL course than it does to purchase a handgun.

I think more people should get their license and join us who carry everyday . You don't need a bazooka or a Desert Eagle 50 cal with lasers and indiglo sights to defend yourself. A little pocket gun is great for everday carry. Keep the 1911s and 5" guns in the car .

two things open carry has never been illegal in texas as long as it doesnt cause a panic secondly petition online is a waste of time.....although the thought of just being able to carry would be nice but will never happen

Open carry of a handgun is illegal, period. You can carry anything over a certain length (I forget what it is...maybe 16"?) out in the open, though the guys with the straight jacket might come looking for you .

btw, I'm familiar with the 1911s and their unreliable compact versions :p. Both are still tough to conceal in your pocket, IMO. I don't care to have a holster as it prints too much more my tastes.

IMO guns are ridiculous. If you have a problem with someone or if someone tries to rob you....beat their *** instaed of shooting. My opinion only also. I just never have liked guns and that would not be cool for people to be able to carry them openly.

You can openly carry a shotgun anywhere, even banks and such. Smart? Probably not, but not illegal.

Great idea until the robber decides to attack your grandma who can't scramble with a 230lb man. Also, criminals have guns, period. They don't care about laws and they don't aqcuire them legally.

Carrying a gun doesn't make you safe. With practice, education, and maturity, it levels the playing field. That's all.

people who wish you harm, and risk going to jail - aren't going to waste the physical effort to raise a fist when they can pull a trigger.

True, but with all the uneducated, immature thugs out there, atleast you'd be playing the same sport.

I disagree about the 1911 and compact models, printing too much. I've carried all versions of the 1911, off and on for about the past 14 years. The Officer's model with a set of slim grips and a Wilson 7 rd. mag makes for a nice carry, IMHO.
