I sold a 98 1LE Z28 rolling chassis for $3200. It only had about 30K miles on it, and it was in excellent condition. Only needed an engine and a tranny. Figure a used LS1 engine and T56 and you'd have a low mileage clean LS1 for less than $7K total. There is a guy here in TX selling a pewter WS6 T/A roller for about the same money. Shop around, you don't always need a complete car to start with.

I've made the change from LT1 to LS1. I have owned 2 LT1s and I never had any major engine problems. My '95 Z28 ran perfect, just the transmission was slipping so I had it replaced. Also had a '96 T/A. The only problem I had with it was a burnt plug wire caused from hitting the header. Both LT1 cars were slightly modded.. long tubes, cat-back, gears, tune. I still love my LS1. Way more power and it is somewhat nearly stock.

are you talking about that ws6 with tt2s/no hood/most of the interior is gutted? etc? Last I remember he had lowered his price to 5000? either wya. I agree, theres deals to be found. ****, I looked for almost 2 months, would have like to have waited longer, but you can only go without a car for so long. but if you're someone like me that doenst know how, have the time, or have the tools to swap in a motor/trans. buying an incomplete car might be more costly/work then previously planned.

That is right, since you sold the LT1 that made you dumber on the wrenches and smarter on the purchasing according to Phantom

Yeah I guess that was my stereotypical opinion from my experiences. But its not always the truth and my statement was biased. But I think you in a way would feel the same coming from a LTX car.

Like a few others have said just get what you feel most comfortable with.

Coming from a guy that has owned both, and both being highly modded (Lt1 had a 381stroker that ran damn good and Ls1 H/c car that ran damn good) get the ls1 you will be 100X more happy!!

engine swap only takes about 3 hrs tops at a leisurely pace, if you have the fresh one ready to install. Easier than a heads/cam swap actually.
