Earlier on a small break i had i got on here and saw a thread about people asking owners of camaros/trans ams if we have a vette motor. Its funny how things like that work out cause the guy said in his on words after our break "you just have a plain old V8 right...just a 5.7. Like the lt1" I kinda agree with him and went along with what he is saying "oh i know i could beat him for sure if its just a 350" talking to another coworker. After he got done rambling on I look at him serious as could be trying not smile "yeah but its the same V8 that comes in the vette." After I told him that he didnt want any. At lunch i decided to be nice and gave hime a ride to see if he was still thinking about running them. He said no. So there wont be a race but theres one more person who now respects the Camaro/ls1. I shouldnt have said anything but he was starting to **** me off about how his little v6 was gonna beat my V8

I can tell you right now that a 99 GTP with a 3.25 pulley,CAI,Downpipe and a dhp pcm run a 13.6 @ 104 with a 2.30 60' I did it with my ex girlfriends GTP. If he has headers and an intercooler your screwed. She ran a 12.95 at 112 with her stock tires and rims with a 2.35 sixty foot. These GTP's are pretty potent and easy to modify. I have been through them. I own one but choose to put most of my money into the camaro.
BUT if he is stock you will destroy him. I bet its stock. GO FOR IT MAN !

It also really depends on the year. If its an 04+ you better be careful because if he gets a perfect launch off the line they can be hard to catch. I just have an intake and raced my friend who has a stock 98 trans am and I fucked up my launch had to hunt him down quick but at 60 he stopped my pull and it was bumper to bumper when we both let off at 80. GTP's are like ls1's some may be more of a monster then others. My gtp is a beast and I can rip stock 99+ mustang gt's up all day long. Raced a wrx (not sti) from a dig and he slaughtered me but at 50 I was half a car infront of him. I honestly think it will be a good race you wont pull no more then 2 cars on him IMO

my 2001 GTP has a VS Cam, 3 inch DownPipe, Full Exhaust, Ported Manifolds, SLP Intake, Tune, and a 3.4 pulley on it..... It runs pretty fast. Beats a stock LS1 hands down. You can also put 1.7rockers on a GTP and get the same effect as the VS Cam.

it did 14.1 at 100mph with less power letting out at Ennis to avoid the "no helmet rule" months ago.... Likely runs bottom 13's or so. Sucks first gear due to the torque steer/wheelspin. Kicks but in 2nd and top of 3rd.

Casper the Ghost is an idiot. That four door black GTP is junk. Only someone who wanted to waste their money would buy a GTP. There is so many faster Geo Metros on the road to be wasting your money on than a GTP.

I own both. '01 GTP. '02 TA. Stock for stock it's not even close. GTP's have to be fairly well moded. Their GOALS are to run with a stock LS1.

WiseAse has it right up there. He listed the mods, which to me sound pretty extensive. Definitely not stock.

Damn, if it ran 13.6 with just 3.25" pulley, CAI, Downpipe and pcm, then I wonder what the GTP will run that I'm looking at. It has a VS cam, 3.0" pulley, and other supporting mods for that small of pulley. He estimated mid 13's since he's never taken it to the track. But, I'm guessing it'll be faster than that then.

Calm down man. I own a GTP and I have had a total of 3 since 2001. Two of them I bought from Casper. One had a 3.25 pulley, CAI, Program, exhaust, and a warp drive. I was just messing with Casper. He dumped some damaged goods on me (his daughter) and I try to get back at him any chance that I get.

3.0 Pulley and a VS cam dont mix... unless the car has a ported blower and an intercooler. I would leave the 3.25 on it if I where you.

To go smaller than a 3.4 you need rockers or cam and good tune... to go w/ a 3.25 you will need an intercooler or really cold winter weather and full headers and exhaust.

If you put rockers, 3.4 pulley, tune, exhaust, downpipe, intake, and port the blower just a tad... you will smoke any stock ls1 all day. Most cars with those mods are touching 12's...... if you can keep the tranny alive! ... those mods are un-noticed and likely under 2 grand installed. I love my GTP..... scoots for a lil v6 ya know!

The girlfriend tried a 3.4 and a 3.25. The car was faster with the 3.25 even before the intercooler. It ran 13.9 with the 3.4 and 13.6 with the 3.25. the car had more knock retard with the 3.25 but it was still faster. I guess she is lucky she never hurt the motor. The intercooler and headers made a world of difference though. The car was a hell of alot faster.
