My chocolate lab has never done that, and he's going to be 3 yrs. old in March. I've had him since he was 6 wks. old and he has only used the restroom inside the house no more then 7 times (that I know of). I would just always take him outside to use the restroom and he basically trained himself. He wakes up my Dad in the middle of the night to take him outside, then barks to open the door back up. They are very smart dogs. He knows how to open our fence with his nose, then he'll close it and so it makes you think he jumped it lol. They are also great hunters.. Both hog and bird.

Stop feeding that purina crap (haha crap) its shitty food (haha shitty) and at his early age he needs a good nutritious food. Try the petsmart Authority brand. I've giving that to my boxer/lab since he was a pup and that ****** is STRONG. The spicy thing should work to solve your problem. Dont hit him though

k not a prob, he didnt do it today so thats a good sign, and no I wont let him lick my face afterward, but it sucks when people come over to see him and let him lick all over them, but i feel too bad to tell them he just ate some ****. Were taking him to the vet soon for a check up or something so I'll ask them whats the best solution then too.
thanks everyone

theres no problem with a dog eating his own crap. it doesn't mean the worlds going to end, sure it's disgusting but some dogs do it. most grow out of it, and maybe eat it from time to time. my dog did it a couple times when he was a puppy and i saw him do it again for first time in 10 years a few months ago... just something about them that makes them not care. usually isn't a health issue or anything. just push him away from it when he trys eating it and maybe give him a little slap on the snout.

hey man I found you on youtube! http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=bHDzecxgtwA or is this you? http://www.ifilm.com/video/2733495
OP I found additional info for you too. This is copied and pasted from a veterinary medicine site where pet owners ask vets questions: Dogs eat poop all the time. Mine raid the cat box. If dogs aren't eating poop, they're smelling it, rolling in it, or carrying it around like a chew toy. Usually a poop eating dog is not getting the nutrients he needs. (We are working on this problem back at the **** Volcano lab.) Try changing his food. He'll stop.
Also, if he was raised in a kennel this might be the cause of his poop eating. Some kennel raised dogs seem to feel a need to keep their run clean, so they eat their poop and drink their pee. Usually vomitting as a result, but that's another story entirely.
