How much do plant operators make?

All you can do is keep applying, and continue to network. Who you know has a lot to do with it some get lucky and get hired on not knowing anyone or no experience or degree. I apply for just about anything that pops up. Never know what can happen. I have two years experience in chemical operator seat.

Thanks man, and I totally agree, P66 does beat the hell out of DOW or BASF. DOW has by far the worst pay out of any company around here and I hate the 4/4 schedule BASF uses. Phillips is an all around awesome place, it would be nice to get on. I think the test is the same one I took at Chevron Phillips, and I passed that, so...

Just have to be patient. You don't have your degree yet. Maybe you get lucky and get hired on or an internship before you get the degree. That's what happened with me and got hired on full time after a few weeks. Just be patient you will get picked up somewhere.

Well I have an interview with Chevron (again lol) for an internship. The internship would last approx. 2 months and become a full time job. The HR lady remembered me from my Summer interview for a full time spot and said she felt bad because I didn't have the degree yet which is why they had to reject me, but I'm hoping the fact that she remembered me and invited me to interview this Thursday is a GOOD indicator of some kind. Super nervous, I've interviewed for an internship with BASF and a 1 year long training program with Air Liquide and didn't get them, but I'm trying to remain undiscouraged! I wish I knew what they were going to ask me for this interview haha

Guess I'll update the thread to let everyone know that I did finally get a job! I'm leaving my job as a lab tech after a year and starting my first day as a Process Operator on April 24th. Been a hell of a ride and even more of a struggle to get to this point and land one of these *****. Go figure by the time I get a job a number of other companies come out of the woodwork to hit me up

I decided on SI Group, could not be happier. They offered me more than anywhere else around here and top out at $42. "Working" right now, they bought us El Chico for lunch yesterday and I think barbecue today (we're doing HAZMAT training all week) and then apparently I still need to be taken out for lunch "officially" lol. New job and a new place to live all in the last week, things are definitely on the up
