TR 224 or TSP 224?
So I'm trying to decide which cam to get in the near future for my Z-28; my choices as of now are the Thunder Racing 224/224 .563/.563 112lsa and the Texas Speed 224/224 .581/.581 112lsa cams(I believe those are the specs).
As of now I have ARH LTs, catted Y, GMMG, LS6 intake, SLP lid, and I'll have some mildly P&P 241s in the near future w/ updgraded valvetrain. It will still be my daily driver for about another 1.5-2 years so I'd like to keep it that way. Car will possibly be used for road racing 3-4 times a year as well so I want something with decent power in the 2500-5000 range.
Also, if you have any other ideas for cams, keep in mind that I don't exactly want to replace rod bolts, rods(it's a 98), or flycut any pistons; thanks!
here's the car as of now:

i had the tr224 cam in my Z loved it, the sound and power. My power band was between 3500 and 6000 i believe. but the other one has a bigger lift and will see more hp with it so its ur choice

Out of those 2, I'd go TSP 224.
For other cams look @ the TSP 228R or a Futral F11 (IIRC) if you like the smaller grinds. Patriot also has a 226 grind that is less expensive than the others. I'm running a GTP 226 grind. Just about any sponsor has a 224 grind like the TSP one. Order from out of state and you don't have to pay sales tax. Speed Inc has free shipping on orders over $100.

W/in a year you'll wish you had a larger cam.
I'd advise talking to a pro like Gilbert @ Ace for converter choice.

Well like I said I don't need a donkey dick cam that sounds like I'm running a383 stroker; it's gotta be streetable. I guess I was mainly wondering what kind of lift would be best for my application?
I'm not that concerned about numbers, just mainly driveability. This car will hardly ever see the strip until I get a 12-bolt, and by then I'll have a forged motor ready to put in.

3500 w/2.5 STR, that is what I had in my old car and I loved it. I had the smaller 224/224 .563 .563 112 TR224 and w/ported and polished 241's it made 400/380 through a stalled auto and drove very nicely. Good call on the cam, not all cams are equal, you have to look at which lobes are being used. Mine had XE lobes, the newer ones (.581 lift) have XER lobes which are generally perceived as better, and rightly so.

Sounds like your finally getting a move on things keV. I used to have a 224 in my black car and I liked it. Now I'm using a 225/225 .581 113lsa. Let's hang out sometime when ur not schooling and shoot the **** peace out
