Default Does this seem right?

I'm not big on dyno numbers, I'm just comparing these to my last car.

Current car: 2001 Trans Am - LS6 MAF, ported TB, ASP u/d pulley, Cartek Stage 2X heads (2.02in 1.57ex milled .030), Comp Cams G5X2 clone (232/240 .595/.608 112+4), FLP LT's w/ORY and stock catback, FLT Level 4 trans w/Yank SS4000 and 2.73 gears in the rear. The car dyno'd 382/377 with the cutout open.

My previous car: 1998 Z28 - ported TB, FAST 78 intake, FM13 (230/232 .585/.591 114), Pacesetter LT's, 3" duals dumped at axle, TCI3500 SSF and 3.23 gears in the rear. This car made 384/375.

I'm more interested to see what the T/A will run at the track. The Z28 ran a best of 12.00@113.7

numbers sound alittle low to me but not much.. Sounds like some gears would help it out at the track tho...

I know I need some gears, not sure which to go with though. 3.73's? I also need to put a stock MAF on there as well.

If anyone has a stock MAF and wants an LS6, I'll swap you. I have two LS6 MAF's, so if anyone needs one let me know.

The car doesn't have cats right now, it has an Off-Road Y-pipe. I guess I should have said stock Y-pipe back or something

LS6 is an 85mm MAF with built in IAT sensor. I believe it requires tuning to get it to work on the F-Bodies and also a 4-pin? connection converter.

I'm not entirely sure everything needed to swap to an LS6 MAF, may do a search on it.

those 2.73 gears in the rear end are killin ya but still with a set of heads you would think you would be over 400. your new car also doesnt have a fast manifold or true duals which would probably give you an extra 20hp(?) up top and with gears you would be over 400. well have to go to the track this summer and line up your old car vs your new one lol

I'm going on the 9th, you should bring it out and we can line 'em up.

I definitely want to get a rear end under this car with some 3.73's or so. Not sure if that's a gear that would compliment the setup or not, I'll have to do some research.

My friend says this car feels a lot stronger than the Z28, but I'm not feeling it. Watching the speedometer climb seems a little slower than the Z28 as well. It may be all in my head though. That's why I want to get it to the track, that will dictate what I do next to it.

wish i could man but im in lubbock till spring break. i think the gears are just playing head games with you, the rpms just arent climbing as fast as they use to. that and floating around at stock ride height without solid mounts probably give the car an entirely different feel to it.

i still havent mashed the throttle on the Z yet. i drove it to lubbock and i drive it once a week to walmart down the street so im not gonna get the best track times out of it without the driver mod lol

I personally will say get the 3.73's.. I think those 2.73's are killing you, and making it feel like it is not as fast....
3.73's are the ****... for a4.. IMO.
if its m6, go 4.10's

I'll bet it goes mid to low 11s 2.73s are deceiving and I'll bet the dyno looks like a horizontal line with a converter.

I'm hoping for mid 11's or better, that would be nice. You're right though, the HP curve looks almost like a table from 5k to 6800, maybe a 20hp difference. The torque curve peaks right around 5k as well and just drops off rapidly from 377 to 300.

Right now it has ET Street Radials, so it should hook up at the track. I wish Ennis was open more often, either that or I wish I lived in Houston still... seems like their track is always open.

all cars peak around 5200 for their torque curve. I don't know why either lol.

2.73s do not dyno well I hear I mean how many people have 2.73s in their race cars? What an odd combo. I also bet that you wouldnt see as big a difference between 2.73s and 3.73s as you think.

After watching this guy's videos: https://ls1tech.com/forums/multimedia-exchange/851094-couple-pt4000-vids.html

I don't think 3.73's would feel much different driving around. Looks like it drives like mine.

I would beg to differ on the comment about 2.73's to 3.73's.
that was the selling point on my car....
I test drove alot of camaros, and T/A's, but none of them felt like mine.
I was looking for something, and they all just did not feel that good.

Then I found my baby.. LOL...
Put the car in gear and at about 40 MPH, look over at my wife and tell her.
This one is mine...
So we drive for about 2 miles, we went back and bought it.

So I think there is a nice difference in the gears, and noticeable..
This all IMO...

and if you have a stall.. dam. it makes the difference.

but as for driving around, I have no stall, the car feels good.
A4 is what I have.
this is what my MPH tops out at in the gears with the 3.73

MPH.. 1st 38
MPH...2nd 72
MPH...3rd 122
then OD4th for the rest

and this is not going past 6 grand.

I have two of them and I'm interested to see how a stock one affects the car. I think the one that's off the car needs to be cleaned, so before I sell it to anyone I want to make sure it's in good working order.
