damn 360 died!
I had my original 360 for nearly 2 years before the RROD. I sent it back to Microsoft and have maybe played it four times since then.
I actually have two, one launch one I bought off here, banned from Live (but zero problems!) so I bought another at the PX. It froze all the damn time, so they sent this one. Worked fine for about 3 months. hell, all I play is COD 4 and Halo3.
This particular RROD isnt repairable without opening it up. It has something to do with the video card, GPU, cause the screen goes all checkerboard, we've all seen when video cards go bad in PC's. I could probably fix it but void warranty if I open it. Its not an overheating problem with this one.

LOL, that's crazy. Ah well, no problems with my discs getting scuffed either. It's probably just a problem with some unit's disc drives not coming to a complete stop before the disc carrier drops out of the center of the disc before it ejects & thus lets a still spinning disc land back on the loading tray.

craigslist doesnt lie, theres alot of people on their trying to trade or sell theyre xbox 360 for a ps3 any gig....theyre far superior to the xbox hands down. i have the 80 gig, with no issues , no coolers, etc.
Compared to the 360 33.3%, more like 50% from what Ive heard

Exactly. I got my 360 to work by laying it in my lap wrapped in a blanket to keep it hot. Got through almost an entire game of halo online, took the towel off, it froze. So its deffinatly the soldier joints IMO.
Damn thing froze during dig dug....
i like the 360 too, but cant get myself to buy one with the red ring thing going around, a buddy bought his brand new about month ago, i think the pro edition, and it got the red ring...
I bought mine on ebay, it went RROD in two days. I called MS and in two days a box was at my door to ship it in, 5 days later a brand new unit was at my door. Not the typical rufurb, but a new chip/hdmi unit. Hopefully they start dong that with everyone's RROD troubles

My Elite is sooo quiet I can't even tell when its on sometimes. Also my Halo 3 360 is pretty damn quiet. Both of them BLOW away my old POS regular 360 (the rock grinder 
).
I always get Best Buy warranties on my crap, which has paid off a few times, and I tried to take it up there to the local store. They wanted me to go pick one off the shelf but I was like I already have an Elite & Halo 3 360's I don't need another. A buddy told me to look up BestBuy.com and mail it off for their warranty. So I did and got my money + tax ($432) about ONE week later. Was fast as hell return for store credit, which funded most of my new laptop!
