******* A. Nobody wants the liability. A customer of my dads decided he was going to swap the head out on his Jeep 4.0. Broke the bolt off, NOBODY would get it out for him. He had to buy another block and then pay Dad's shop to install it all again. Good luck with it.

I have got one of these out of a block before. This is what I did........[That doesnt mean you should] pull the head off,you can't drill it you would need a bit that was 8 inches long and a jig . And if it goes off the bolt it will put a hole in your block quick. Get a 10/32 or a 1/4 /20 bolt that is long put some JB weld on the tip of it and push it on the broken piece of bolt.let it sit for 24 hours and back it out.make sure you don't put to much JB weld in it and keep it out of the threads. I know this sound crazy but it worked for me.

Sounds like you lucked out. If you were torquing down the bolt, and the head of the bolt was already pushing down on the cylinder head, then it broke because it was in too much tension (not because it got stuck in the threads), this is why I asked about it. This means that the piece down in the hole should not be in a bind, and should come out fairly easy. When the head snaps off, the part in the hole shouldn't even be hand-tight.
I think if the bolt is only 1/2" down, you should be able to use a center punch, then drill it. Make sure you use a NEW SHARP bit, and make sure it's small (easier to start). Work it up a one size at a time, cleaning out the hole each time. Then you should be able to get an ease-out on it. Tap it in snug (don't knock the hell out of it, it will lock the bolt to the walls of the hole), then back it out.
That's a pretty good idea. Might work for him pretty good if the bolt isn't wedged in.
