Didnt your old car have new motor/trans and you only sold it for $5000? Be reasonable here. There is no way your getting $14,000. I have $21,000 in receipts for my car and i am not even asking half that.

i sold my 96 for 5000 because i wanted to get rid of the trash heap. it was fast as nuts dont get me wrong, but thats all it was good at and i wasnt racing for money so its w/e. i KNOW i can get atleast 9000 for the car because of the rarity of a LT1 SS, this combo is 1 of 40. LS1 SS's are a dime a dozen, you dont see these cars everywhere. A 97 SS is in higher demand than any other LT1 unless maybe a 96. Thats only if i decide i dont want the car after the semester. I really want to demod the car and return it to 100% stock.

P.S: A custom leather interior would be nice..... >_>

Also, the labor thats on your reciepts doesnt mean anything.

Not all true. Maybe a LT1 Z will only go for 6k, but a LT1 SS will go for more because of the rarity. Also it depends on condition. For the most part, LS1 SS's will go for more but it depends on a lot of things.

Here is my thinking: The car is rare yes, but for someone looking for a car that rare, most of the time they are going to want it to be stock or close to stock (maybe just some bolts etc). I'm not saying anything bad about your car because it is a nice car, but I think the fact that it has a new motor and trans, unless the are just rebuilt?, hurts the value to the buyer in this market. Now if a potential buyer is buying it not just because of rarity and just a cool car or a strip car then you could get more. But, idk. I would say that you can get probably $8,000 for the car. You won't get that you put in the car or something like that.

Once again I'm not trying to put your car down, but I just bought my 96 SS for more than that from a dealer and it looks a lot cleaner than yours and has only 70,9xx miles. It also has the original LT1 and trans so it is valued more.

Try to get what you want out of it, but I know you won't get $14k for it. If you find the right buyer, maybe $10k max, but idk man, I still think $8,000 would be about the max you will probably get. Good luck if whatever you do if you do choose to sell it this summer.

All i can add to this is ( there is an *** for every car and every *** depending on how much then want something will pay for it.) and beside i said start at, but check ebay and auto trader and get a feeling for what these cars are really going for ...... not all buyers are collector buyers but there are alot of buyers that don't know much ..... and yes the motor and trans are rebulit and have less then 700 miles on them.

Are the motor and transmission rebuilt or are they both new?

yes cause thats real world value. you can think your lt1's or ls1 for that matter is worth 14k but if you had to sell it on the spot you ain't getting it... you have to take wat you can get.. specially when people are finding clean ls1 z28's for 6-7K with under 100k miles

his car is worth what someone's willing to pay for it. there is a difference between a run of the mill z28 and an SS be it an ls1 or lt1 it doesn't matter. his SS is a little more rare than most and it is definitely clean. find the right person that really likes the car, and he will pay more for it, plain and simple
