Default My PT test is today....

So i got a call at 8:30 this morning saying that my PT test for the Army ROTC is today. Not too excited about it, i think its just some push-ups and sit-ups then like 1 or 2 mile run/jog? Anyone clue me in on this thing?

I just Signed up for teh ROTC yesterday, so i should be getting full tuition and board + $350 per/mo for spending, $900 for books a semester and Uncle Sam says i can keep the change.

2 minutes of pushups, 2 minutes of situps, and a 2 mile run.

100% is 71 pushups, 75 situps, and a 13:00 2 mile time, that for the 17-21 age group.

Minimum pass is 42 pushups, 53 situps, and 15:54 run

Yeah u do as many pushups as you can for 2 minutes and you cant put your knees on the broung to take a break. After youre done youll get a small break and then do youre 2 minutes of situps, then another break and your 2 mile run.

youll like rotc. You should go talk to the rotc recruiter and talk about a SMP contract. Youll get paid as e5 at drill plus you get more pay and more respect once you get your gold bar.

PM me if you need more info.

BTW, that first is only a diagnostic PT test. watch for puke on the track haha

Its not that easy. you have to be prior (so go SMP) to choose the branch you want. However, 11a is easy to get anyway

well, i did 42 pushups, but i do negative pushups, meaning that my chest hits the floor and i go below parrallel so that screwed me up on those. Then i got 53 situps, but really hurt myself there because i ended up using my quads a lot. Then came the run and i only made it 1.25 mile. so needless to say i burnt my way through it and failed, i'll just have to workout a lil more. It wasnt as easy as it sounds mate. thanks for the info!

WTF is 11A? 21 yrs in Army, i have yet to hear of this MOS, matter of fact, it does NOT exist!

YOu guys looking to go into the Military..PM me... Recruiters are "Salesmen" for the Military.. They will try to "place" you into a job to suit the Army,Navy,A/F,Marines..

This is why it is imperitive that you score VERY high on the ASVAB... A 110 or better GT score will net you the best jobs..

The Army is offering "killer" bonus's right now for "critical" Combat arms MOS's..

Anyone seriously looking to go in.. PM me.. I won't steer you wrong, as i have a 16 y/o son that will graduate in a couple of years that is looking into going.. You can't beat the "college" money...

Now, you may/will find yourself in a far away place for awhile...It's ALL what you want to do...

Back to the original thread....

I too do PT test's every month.. I am over 40, ususally do 50 p/u, 50 s/u ( in 1 min, then i get up) I have to save my energy for the run... Typically run a 16-16:45 min two mile run...

Good luck with your ROTC... pretty admirable @ this day and time.

umm dude you may have been in for 20 years... but your off on this one that or your some kind of reserve component

but 11A is the MOS for all officers in the infantry, they are 11A then what ever there secondary skill identifier might be, IE..11A1V = infantry, 2nd LT airborne ranger. or if you where enlisted it look like 11B3V = infantry staff SGT airborne ranger

on a side note 30 AG is where you report to when you got to Fort Benning school for boys haha and it sucks!

i felt kinda bad for not finishing but o well, i have till next semester to complete the hooker. I used to be in great shape during varsity football and track, so yea i feel pretty run down lol. Hopefully i can get back into shape and pass it with better numbers. I'm pretty excited about it all, i get full tuition ( OBU runs 24K a year due to it being private ). I also get 350 a month and 900 a semester for books, i'll be an officer ( i dont know how the army looks at 2nd luitenits sp? ) so i think things look good from here. I'm just praying about everything to make sure this is what is meant for me.

Can't speak for the other services, but the Navy recruiters, have no control over what job you get. Thats where the 'classifiers' at MEPS come in. Recruiters do what they can to find qualified personnel and get them to MEPS. Recruiters process the paperwork necessary to join.

Maybe for the Army but the GT isn't a universal score base for jobs in the Navy (again, can't speak for the other services). The Navy works on verbal skills, arithmetic reasoning, math comprehension, mechanical and a host of other 'line-scores' to compile what jobs a person matches up with.

GOOD LUCK w/ROTC.

Well there you have it... 11A "Infantry Officer".. huh? Learn something everyday..

I am an Enlisted (E8)..11B... I take offense to the "whole" RESERVE COMPONENT comment...

I have 10 yrs active duty, almost 11 in the USAR... Have been all over the world and have been deployed twice.. ( Iraq/Afghanistan)..

Tell me, who makes up most of our "Fighting Force" currently?

The Reserves/Nat'l Guard is no longer the "Weekend Warriors", 2 weeks per month..

I have several of my soldiers currently deployed, and more leaving in March. Army,Air Force,Marines,Navy, Reserve or Active.. We ALL bleed the same!

If you are trying to become an officer, and you find yourself in a fire fight with a "Reservist"...guarenteed you won't think of him as one when you next to him exchanging lead.

Thanks for the whole Officer thing...huh... i never knew!

I'm an Air Force officer and get 100 (out of 100) on the AF PFT and 300 (out of 300) on the Army PFT.

The key is to run 4 miles at least 3 to 4 times a week. Try some of Stew Smith's pushup workouts.

If you need any advice, PM me.

pretty sure the asi has absolutely nothing to do with your rank like mine is 25n7d which means im a joint network node operator maintainor( thats the 25n) the 7d which is my asi says im also a qualified operator of microwave transmission systems. if you want to regard rank in your mos and asi it would look like this 25n207d the 25n being your mos obviously the 20 meaning sgt.(10 lvl for e4 and below 30 lvl for ssg) and then 7d being the asi
