Question Anybody know the pinion gear bearing part #

Bought some gears for my daily driver and need to know what the bearing part # is for the pinion gear. This is the bearing thats pressed on.Went to local autoparts stores and bought two diffrent company bearings same part number.

HM89249 is the bearing part number they gave me.This bearing just slips on and off with no with little effort considering it needs to be pressed on.

Thats the right number for every brand, 89249.
Some people hone them out to create a slip fit to make it easier to set the rear up, then use a non honed bearing for final assembly. Sounds like someone either did this and returned it, or you have a bad pinion.
I'd exchange the bearing for another one and see.

The gears are brand new,but do you think the pinion shim that sits on the bottom of the pinion gear tightens the bearing once pressed on?

Even the Napa guy that sold me the bearing used a caliper to measure the diameter of the yoke gear.Spec out the same as the Bearing.

The bearing is a very tight fit. It should have a lot of resistance once it gets to the machined surface it gets pressed onto. In fact it's so tight you usually can try to press it on by hand and it will still come back off easy, in other words it won't even go on a little bit. .

If the guy got the same measurement for the bearing ID and the shaft then there is something wrong, there should be a difference between the two.
Did you try a different bearing?
You are talking about the one that goes right by the pinion gear right?
I ask because sometimes the smaller bearing will slip fit and thats normal. But the bigger bearing is a tight press fit as soon as it hits the shoulder of the pinion.

Yeah its the one on the pinion gear pinion and I bought two different bearings from two different companies.

The Autozone Timken #HM89249
The Napa Skf # HM89249

Anyone know the Gm #?

If you go to GM you will get bearings in a GM box but they will either be Timken, or if I remember correctly Koyo. Either way they are all the same number and all the same size.
You might consider comparing an old pinion with yours.
