Any handgun experts in here?
I'm looking to buy a handgun in the next couple of weeks. I'm pretty set on getting a 9mm due to ease of access to ammo. I'd also like for it to have a 14 round clip. Do you guys know of any good options or where I could buy it from legally? Mods, if this is in the wrong section, feel free to move it to the appropriate place. Thanks guys.

Sig, Springfield XD, Glock & Beretta are all good starting points, go to a good gun shop & hold them all & see what fits, once you find some that you like, start asking who has what & maybe offer to pay their range fees in exchange for letting you shoot their gun. Much better to try before you buy & spend a little bit figuring out what guns work best for you. Personally, Sigs are a bit on the pricey side, but they are well worth it. I have yet to shoot the Glock I picked up, going to the country this weekend so I'll get to shoot it then.

if you get one of the full size springfields you can swap out the internals. with a .357 or .45 you could swap in the 9mm barrel and be able to use 9mm ammo. this way you could still have dropping power and be able to go cheap at the range. i normally buy online and have my guns sent to a local ffl holder.

I have a glock .40 and it holds 15 rounds. Gunbroker, carters country, academy, bass pro, and gander mountain are all places to go loo and get a round about idea of what you might want. Personally I would go any lower in size than a 9. I love my .40 cal.

If price is a concern, do not discount Ruger. I own 3 Ruger guns right now, but have owned quite a few others in the past, anthing from a Mini-14 to a P97DC .45, I am a Ruger fan. Great quality. Great prices.

I had one of the ruger 9mm, I think it was a P89 or something like that, forget the exact model, it was a POS. Had a lot of barrel slop & was very inaccurate. As for other Ruger products, rifles & revolvers, I love them.....I just don't care for their line of auto pistols....granted that was a long time ago & they have probably improved since then...they just look like the same gun I had issues with.

Me and the 3 other guys(all carrying the same model Ruger) had not a single missfire, stovepipe, or anything. Ive had mine for 8yrs now, shot AT LEAST 1500rounds thru it and never once had any issue. Regardless of ammo or use.
Maybe production quality has improved....?

Go to www.seatstaysup.com. They have a good firearms section with a lot of activity. Your user account and password here also works over there.
