Unhappy Car Accident,Please Advise

I was involved in a car accident about 2 hours ago, it wasn't my fault.

So I was coming out of Houston Raceway Park, and just driving normal not going fast or anything and came up too the train tracks and I slowed down, so the guy behind me does too but the guy behind him doesn't so he slamms into the guy behind me, and he slams into me in his Silverado.

My car drives fine, and the rear bumper isn't caved in, but it is cracked and has a small hole, because the guy in the silverado hit me at an angle. The guys truck got fucked up in the front and back, his front bumper got bent and dislocated and his rear bumper was pretty bad too. The guy in the Jeep was fucked, his whole front bumper fell off and I guess his radiator was cracked.

I got allot info from the guy who caused the accident, his license number and insurance policy etc.. So what's next? The state trooper filled out the accident report and gave the basic info to get ahold of a copy of the accident report. The guy had Geico. Over all my car is fine and I have a pain level on a scale from 1-10, 2 on my right side of my back.

Please advise me on how to handle this since its my first accident. Where do you guys recommend I get my car fixed, what's the correct procedures to follow. Also the guy in the Silverado had his truck dropped and didn't get the show car insurance, will he have insurance problems, will these cause any for me?

You might not feel pain till 1-2 days later. That has happened to me on all 3 occasions. The physical therapists said it is common. Geico will most likely tell you to put a claim on the insurance of the Silverado. They will probably try and say the Silverado was too close to you and that he didn't give enough space between you and him. I'd try and put it on the Jeep driver personally. Get a copy of the police report ASAP. It says it takes 5-7 business days but usually they are done in 2 or 3.

When you talk to Geico DO NOT answer any questions about details of the accident over the phone and especially don't say you arent hurt, cause in a day or two it might be a different story. Have them mail you a copy of the questions to fill out. Fill them out, make a copy for yourself and mail it back. Geico will recommend a shop for you to get your car fixed at, you do not have to take it there. The choice is yours and they are expected to pay unless they feel the charges are way marked up.

As for your car, I'd wash it tomorrow and give it a good lookover. Since you got rear ended check where the frame connects to the black bumper support that is behind the bumper cover. Usually those tend to bend a little if you get hit hard enough. Make sure the front of your doors dont rub the front quarters, make sure the sail panel part is still even with the top of the rear quarters on both sides. My 96 Firebird was rear ended and the initial damage looked minor but once I cleaned it up and checked it out I realized just how screwed I was. That car got totalled but I retained title.

I have been in 3 major accidents, all not my fault, and still continue to learn how insurance companies try and screw you over. Geico really tried giving it to me when the lady ran the red light and totalled my WS6.

WS 666, when you say got your car totaled what do you mean, Sorry I dont understand. Does it mean you got the car paid for by the insurance company? Also what happened with the car? Was there problems trying to sell it since it had been in am accident. Did this affect the title change?

Totalled means the repairs were more than a certain percentage of the value of the car. Usually when people total their cars the insurance company gives them a little under blue book for them. Your car sounds like it has minor damage so you shouldnt have to worry about that. Obviously the repairs done to your car might show up on a Carfax or Equifax report. If it is just replacing the rear bumper thats no big deal. You don't need to worry about any of the title stuff either.

Don't say you're not hurt. Sometimes they will try and settle that part out of court. Probably slide you like $1500 or so, just so you won't take 'em to court!

Call the jeeps insurance company ASAP! Dont wait you need to go ahead and let them know what happed before he even calls. same kinda thing happened to us but because the car behind us came to a complete stop cop put all blame on the last car that caused the wreck so her insurance took care of it all.

My neck was also hurting a little while we waited the 2 hours for the police to come then later on that night I had pretty bad shooting pain. Neck was sore for a few days afterwards and if you let them know when you make the claim they will compensate you.

So my suggestion would be to go ahead and call and not wait for the police report call their insurance now.

Yeah sorry if my post was a little misleading, definately call Geico ASAP if you already havent. Its just nice to get that police report fast cause for some reason Geico seems to get it about a week after its available.

call his insurance company now. tell them you are feeling some back pain and heading to the DR today/asap. give your side of the accident and answer all of their questions. the guy int he jeep at the very back w ill be at fault and your insurance shouldn't go up at all. if your hurting a little bit today it will probably be worse in the morning.

Answer them but not on the phone, they say they record the conversations which they do. But the longer they talk to you the more they try and tell you the opposite of what you said in the initial phone call. They do that in hopes of trying to mess you up and then say your claim is faulty. Thats why you need to answer them on paper and keep a copy for yourself.

Man that sucks but since it wasn't your fault everything should turn out okay. Make sure that you tell the guys insurance that you just want your car fixed and in condition it was in when you left the house that morning.

I was hit the same way and the third car in the accident has to cover all the damage to vehicles and any injury caused. At least thats how my accident was handled. Hope it helps. Sorry about your car that sucks.
