I think the biggest problem with the SSR was the price & they made it too much into a roadster. If they made em cheap like the original el caminos, I think they'd do fine.

I was never a big fan of the el camino myself, at least not in stock form, but I have seen them with the Monte Carlo SS front ends & fixed up really nice.

To me, this would be a great DD that you can toss the slicks into the back of & take to the track on a Friday night & pound it hard as well as be able to haul your dirt bike, mulch and other stuff for those of us that need a small truck but don't want a truck & a car.

So long as you can get some decent MPG out of these with a M6, I bet they will do well....hell, I'd consider buying one for sure depending on the finished product.

I like the looks of the black Holden Ute much better than the Chevy or Poncho concepts.

Yeah, I wish they'd just straight up bring in the Holden's with no changes other than our imperial units (if they are using metric) and left side drive (if they use right side). They can simply rebadge them if they 'really' have to & leave everything else interchangeable.

i registered just to say this

that ute hasnt been modified except for the Wheels !

just the Wheels !, its a HSV (holden special vehicles) model of the normal holden VE ute.

everything else on the ute is stock but the wheels, and they are the toughest looking things on the road yet.

retail for about $80,000 AUD. probably will never see US soil though. haha

as long as they dont overprice it like they did with the SSR, it will be aight. i feel that if GM priced the SSR in the 30's and called it an el camino, it would have sold.

I've always been a fan of the El Camino's and pontiacs myself, so I personally kinda like the idea. I'd have to see the finished product and price before I say for sure though.

I would most likely get rid of my current truck for one of these. I don't use my truck as a truck very often, except to get some hay and feed for the horses once every few months or so, when we don't take the wife's truck to do it. It they got better mileage and had more power, I'd go for it, The black one in the pic is badass, I think the wheels are a little on the big side though

The way the truck market is going, it has the potential to do very well.
