The loss of traction could also be poor suspension geometry.
I haven't had too many traction issues w/ the 2-3 shift and the tires I've ran don't tend to "chirp" when they break loose either, but getting to the top end of 2nd while WOT, I'll start spinning and getting squirrely and have to lift. This was on BFG KD and the RT-615's. Both are pretty soft tires, its the stock 3.42's and I've done this on different roads and surface types. Didn't notice it at Ennis though.

It's not as much power as lack of traction and a good strong clutch....I'm about as close to a stock engine as you can get, but Ive got some data logs of breaking mine lose on the 3-4 shift at 104 before the shift 106 after and peaking @ 114...not power shifting I'm coming completely out of the throttle. My car hot on a mustang dyno put up like 286 hp and 330 ftlb's at the tires (315 35's) with 146K on the clock. (it was a while back ago and the dyno numbers my have been slightly different but was by no means a powerhouse)
...my 10 bolt doesn't like it much either....but I'd rather the tires to get a little lose than break the rear.

Its normal. I remember being able to chirp them with street tires around that speed.
On the drag strip, it's worse. I'll start to lose the rear end from second to third when making the run.
