Default Will my car be totaled or not?

Fiancee drove car through about 8 inches of water and it sucked it into the intake. hydrolocked the motor. she was sitting in the water and put it in park and tried to start it. Motor wouldn't budge so it buster the starter and the mounting holes for the starte off the block. What are the chances of my insurance company totaling my car with nothing else being wrong with it but the engine?

DAm.. that is a good question...
I am going to give my 2 cents and say they will not total the car.. This is my opinion, but I dont feel the average insurance company would total that...
01 z28, probably wont be totaled.. Sounds nice to get it considered totaled..
But highly unlikely, unless your insurance guy is your buddy.

They will probably tell you to take it to a shop/dealership and get a quote on getting it fixed

Dam, you buying a 450 HP crate engine?????

I was looking around at crates the other day and for a crate ls1 motor coming in the 425HP range will be about 3700.. then include a MAF and starter, and that is still under 4500.... I would say keep looking around for a crate...
Or I will put a link or 2 up...

Thats a stock complete LS1 engine assy from GM performance parts. Thats not what'll be going in the car but that is what the estimate is for.

since i will be doing the labor myself I'll save a little bit of money and I'll also get the parts at my cost. So I may be able to swing a nice set of heads and a cam into the deal if they don't total it.
Total for SB, MAF and starter came out to about $8k
Total for complete assy, MAF and starter comes out to anout $8800

i think its deductable + what the salvage yard offers the insurance company. my buddy wrecked his ta and he got a check for a little over 18tho and bought the car back for 800 then he turned around and parted out the car for over 5 tho so he had about 23tho and owed about 1500 on it so he had 21500 for another car. so it may be to your advanage to push them to salvage it and then buy it back from them
