Man that sucks but could have been worse.

Thats why i keep off the freeways when it's raining, if I get stuck on one I'll slow it down to 45 or slower and get off asap.

camracingah - going through insurance for sure

ls1jabroni - I have ASR too but I pulled the fuse a long time ago. Its not that I was accelerating any, I hit a puddle apparently and started hydroplaning.

TA-Swede - I felt the rear end drift around, and my instinct was to countersteer. I didnt have time to think about it anyway it just happened. I never knew about what you are saying with the front wheels, but Im pretty sure my rear wheels were sliding more than the fronts.
I have had my fair share of powerslides and sliding around on wet streets, I have a good feel for my car when it looses control but this time I was going way too fast.

Mike96z - good insight, that is normally how I get out of minor slides too

atxz/28maro - happened a little south of mcNeil road. I drove it off the hwy and parked in that best buy lot to wait on a tow truck.

315 DRs are lethal in rain.

About the front wheels sliding, assuming the front wheels just start sliding to the left, which is the way my car started sliding, it would still seem to me like steering to the right is the right thing to do. Im not sure about the situation you are describing, where the front wheels would loose traction but the rear wheels stay put? I think that only happens in understeer, if you try to corner and brake too hard.
I cant see how turning left while your rear end is sliding to the right will steer out of the slide, it would only try to make it worse.
I think I just said all of the same things as Newton

When I had the V6 in my car something similar happened to me... It was absolutely pouring the rain and I was on the Interstate and out of nowhere the car kicked perpendicular to the grassy median and I somehow pulled it back and saved it and kept on going like everything was fine... Craziest thing...

Glad you're alright though... You can get that camaro looking good as new here soon..

Sorry to hear man, Im really surprised the shitty drivers round here didnt hit you (maybe they were just to scared to drive in this weather).

As for the countersteering thing... I think you did the right thing. If you dont countersteer, your front tires arent pointed in the same direction as the vehicles momentum. there is just no chance of them catching and pulling you out of a slide, in water, when they are at a 45 w/ the cars momentum. atleast thats my experience.

I lost mine this morning, I was able to save it by countersteering though.

Did a complete 180 and kept going, looked like a pro, lol. Damn rain.
