Default Having trouble on a car to buy...

Well, i am in the market for a new car. I have ideas in mind like an STi, Evolution, G35, Spec V, or an LS1 car. Prices are sky rocketed during the summer months and its very annoying.

what i'm looking for is a car that gets good highway mileage and i definately want a manual. Price doesnt matter too much, i just need to be able to keep the monthly payments under 200 a month. my credit is very good for a 19 yr old.

Any reccomendations? SS Camaro's are nice too, but every1 that is selling thiers is way over priced as compared to what they go for during the winter months. Let me know what yall reccomend guys or if you know of a car out there for sale.

STi and EVO are the two of the most expensive cars in the world to insure.

if you want a fast car dont get a G35 you'll get tired of it real quick knew some one that went form an 03 cobra to a G35 then sold it pretty quick to get a new mustang GT, and my bro went from an LS6 H/C 02 SOM WS6 to a 350z then got tired of it and went to an 03 cobra. but if you just want a nice reliable car to drive around it be fine i guess and i would not get an f-body if thats the case. oh and payments under 200 a month? good luck

Price doesn't matter yet your trying to keep payments under 200 a month...? My payments on a 14K note for 4 years on the lowest interest rate the bank offered were 350/month.

If you want payments under $200 a month then price will be very important. A good rule of thumb is that for every $1000 you finance for 60 months, you will have a payment of $20 per month. So, if you finance $10,000 for 60 months, your payment will be about $200. So you need to be looking at something around $10k or less unless you're putting cash down.

I would imagine you are a first time buyer so you do not have loan history so credit isnt what they are looking at. They will ask for a co-signer and most likely try to put you into a new car rather than a used car.

yeah but most banks or credit unions wont finance 10k for 5 years. they will probably give you the 3 year option at most. i believe

For a used car, the longest I've heard is 4 years.

That all depends. If it's a bank that he or his family has banked with for a long time, then they might finance longer. If he buys from a dealer, then you can finance for 5 years on a $10k car depending on the year/mileage and condition of the car and his credit.

on a 10K note over 4 years i can get around 220 a month. I can do that. My credit is very good and insurance will be through USAA so it's dirt cheap.

Are you figuring 2.9% on those loan numbers? That's REALLY low on a $10k car, especially the ones you're talking about. I think you really need to be figuring a rate in the 7's to be safe. If you haven't financed a car before, your rate will be higher if you get approved. You may have good credit but unless you have car credit, you may not get loan approval.

$10k at 7.5% for 48 months is over $240/mo.

that's with 6% to get those monthly payments. anyone know anything about scions or acura RSX's?

I'm doing interest over the monthly payment not the entire loan.

You need to listen to Jeff here... As he has probably been selling cars since you were in grade school...

Sorry Jeff..

Be realisitic.. @ $250.00 per month, you aint gonna get much. Unless ofcourse you go to EL Cheapeto car lot.. You can buy a car with NO credit.. But you'll be paying about 18% to finance.

Good luck.. Your'e gonna need it!
