Feel like puking..... I got a kid that's getting ready to drive. Insurance is gonna go up like a mother, plus I gotta buy her a car so......I sold my SS to some kid in NC. So, I am driving my tired ***, beater Civic to work everyday. Whenever I start it, drive it or just look at it I want to puke (I just threw up a little right there). I can't believe I sold my ******* CAR!!!!!!! Sorry for the rant but nobody here inderstands. The wife is like "now you can buy a truck or something more reasonable". Man, she better watch out she is pretty close to a kidney punch. Thanks for listening...

Wow... my parents gave me 200 bucks towards a 400 dollar beater for my first car, it was a diesel rabbit! And my parents NEVER put me on their insurance, I had to pay for that myself with my own separate policy.
I had my own job at 15 tossing pizzas and I saved my money for my own car.
You don't have to buy your child everything, a little hard work makes them appreciate having to pay for it themselves. They are less likely to drive *** stupid when they know they are paying for it themselves.
Guess I was brought up too old skool for folks around here. Mommy and Daddy didn't give up their stuff so I could have everything I wanted at 16 and not have to pay for it.
My brother is 23 and my mom is having a horrible time trying to cut him off...

Yeah my mom was fronting that **** all because my brother said he would pay for it and she wanted to "help" him. Well all that helping is depleting her bank account.
Too many kids now a days live the lifestyle of their parents that took their parent 20 years to get and the kids expect it like it is something that they are owed or something. THAT There fact makes me want to PUKE!
Do your daughter a favor and teach her to respect hard work, pick up a fixer' upper like my parent's did, work on the car with her, she'll learn how to work on her own car, NOT get taken at a mechanic when she is 19 and on her own. She'll learn to respect her car when she finds out how much stuff costs to repair and the man hours involved. Your wallet will thank you in the end, you'll get to keep YOUR car which you have rightfully worked HARD for and your daughter will be better off in the long run and thank you for teaching her to wrench on her own stuff.

Let her buy the honda from you, or you give her the car and she pays the insurance. My parents bought me the cheapest small truck they could buy new so that I could have reliable transportation to college and later work. Nothing fancy but I felt very fortunate.
On a side note: I also grew up with "Greed4Speed" and know he had to work for his car and to keep it running. We took care of hour cars.

I agree with sunday driver. I was forced to earn everything I have unlike my younger siblings who now burden my parents. I am thankful because I am not dependent like they are. Now my parents are always broke cuz my siblings wont even pay for their own damn gas.
trust me i know the feeling,but damn if i am going to sell my ss,my 16 old daughter came to live with me last july.now she wants everything damn thing,so i had to put a hold on my turbo set-up.
I appreciate your coments (except for that no good, pillow biting 2slow). The main reason I sold the car was for insurance puposes, I think. When my kid finished drivers ed, I got a letter from All State saying "Congratulations.......new driver in the house...." So, I was pretty sure the premiums were going to go way up. She will be driving the beater Honda and I am prolly going to buy a truck. She'll work for her insurance and stuff, so it's not like I'm rolling in it and she's a spoiled rich kid. Just want to do more for her than my folks did for me. Anyway, thanks again for your side of things. Oh, and screw you 2slow for whatever ghey, tough guy remark that is going to follow....
