yea those are huge, but the rims im going with are 1" smaller then what he went with. Alot of the 2gen guys I have seen and some other classic owners run billet adaptors.

Width has nothing to do with backspacing.

Typical 1st/2nd gen: 10" wide wheel, 5.5" backspacing
Typical 4th gen: 10" wide wheel, 7.5" backspacing

That means no matter what width you use, the lug mounting pad is 2" in the wrong direction. They then require spacers to make up for it. Very cheesy.

thats exactly what i did. however was a pain in the *** cause i had to buy the 17x12 hoops from a private vendor and ship the to american racing to install the tt2centers since they dont make a 12 inch wide tt2.however the finished product looks killer 6.5 inches of dish. these wheels howl!

2" in the front and maybe 2.5" in the back......Im not gonna skimp on the adaptors and pics i have seen of 4gen wheels on 2gens I liked (brakes and all) Something different. And if I get them and dont like them well I can always sell them cause they would bolt right up to a 4Gen fbody with no adaptors.

I have to agree that the Z06 wheels look terrible. Sorry man. I've seen a lot of 2nd gens and newer style wheels never look good on them. These cars need wheels with a lot of lip on the rear. Good luck with it though.

yea i understand, so far im getting a 50/50 opinion about it but in the end its my car. I am just tired (no offense to ones who have them) of TT2's, Crager SS's, Centerlines, Fooses and Coys rims, seems every Tom Dick and Harry has them, they look good but gotta make this car my own. Cars getting CF look front spoiler, CF accent in the interior, Recessed white face gauges in a CF look dash, Sport seats (high back buckets with racing harness holes) New style "SS" badges. there is a 70-73 Camaro running around Arlington thats nearly the same color im going with with dual stripes on TT2's.....I dont want people to confuse me.

Ok car is up and running, just waiting for the shop to call and say its done, Exhaust is getting put on this week, I updated my cardomain page also. Here are some Photoshopped with new rims, these rims are correct offset and will require no spacers

Those are better but I'd save and just get a nice set of wheels. Everyone goes with the wheels you mentioned because 1) to lazy to look for something original or 2) not willing to spend the extra cash to set the car apart. Wheels make or break the car. When I get to working on my 69 it will definitely be getting a set of NICE wheels.

Other than that, I like the car, the color and the motor. I prefer to have split bumpers with the round signal lights as opposed to the full bumper lights.

? I looked all over the net for those ROH SP wheels, looks like ROH doesnt even make them anymore from what i can tell, got them off of a guy on NastyZ28. Anyway, im just happy I got a great deal on them and there different from the TT's and Crager's everybody uses.

Nice project.
I think wheels can easily make or break the overall appearance of a vehicle. Unfortunately, (just my opinion) the wheels you have chosen aren't cutting it.
Hell, if you don't have the change to spend on a higher-end set, go with some classic drag style wheels like Pro-Stars or even Centerline Tel-Stars or Convo-Pros.
Other than the wheel "issue", I think you've got a pretty sweet ride there.

I had a 70 SS in the color you are wanting. The white stripes will go well with it. The guy I sold it to put on black stripes, but IMO they just didn't go with the blue.

Are you keeping the SS front end w/the bumperettes or are you going to get an actual RS front later down the road?

Go with whatever wheels you like because that's all that matters... it's what you like. I'm running a set of 20" Intro Pentias on the back of my '73 Camaro and 18" on the front. I know alot of people think 20" is too big for a classic muscle car but I like it.

I do think it was a good idea going with wheels that don't need spacers though. I never really liked the idea of using spacers.

Darren, it doesn't matter what you go with as long as you get SOMETHING powder coated on this project of yours! And I swear to bob that if you rattle can or por15 instead...!

kinda crazy... I was planning on going with close to the same color with the same exact paint scheme... only I'm doing the stripe in gray to match my gray and white interior.

well the stripe is gonna be one single bright white solid with a accent stripe going around the whole thing, I got a pic of a yellow camaro on my cardomain page which is what design I am going with. No RS swap, I like the way it looks now, plus I dont care for the 20 different grill pieces (sarcasm) U need just to put that grill in, and if u notice I already had one accident I cant imagine how much that would have cost replace a RS front clip And Joe I'am gonna get something powdercoated, just havent figured out what yet but I will PM u when I'am ready
