Default Omg I was sooo emabarassed (Mothers day story)

So being I'm actually off work (but all my family are in Northern California) I decided to spend mothers day at my friends grand mothers house where he and all of his family were gathering for a bar b que etc. He tells me to arrive around 4 pm, I show up at 4:45 with a dozen roses for his mother whom I know a little (out of courtesy). Well my buddy is not there and here I am with all these people I have never seen (all except one). I'm a pretty social person so no biggie right? I bring the roses to his mother with a hug and kiss on cheek. I pretty much think nothing of anything else and watch the game and wait on my buddy. Well about 15 minutes later one of the ladies pulls me aside (politely) and tells me how rude it was of me to just bring one lady roses instead of passing one rose to each adult female. Omg I was sooo embarassed and apologized and did just that. My buddy showed up 2 hours later and I never brought it up. I guess I'm just ranting but has any one else experienced anything similar? Was I rude? I was raised in a 2 parent upper middle class family and kinda think I know manners but this whole thing has me feeling akward. I'm obviously home now and would appreciate any feed back, Thanx.

You did the right thing bro. You dont know any of those other people and definitely dont need to be passing out roses. What if some dude started tripping out because you handed his wife a rose? That would be odd

I think it was rude of the 2nd lady to call you rude. She doesn't know you, nor do you know her or any of the other people. She's probably just mad no one bought her something for mother's day.

That was rude of her. One to each adult female ? How the hell are you supposed to know which one is a mother and which one isn't ? What if one of them just lost a child or something unimaginably horrible and you offended/hurt them ?

You did nothing wrong.

Damn after a shot and reading these comments I feel 10x better thanks fella's and yea I do think there might have been some light flirting going on b/c I think the lady which pointed out my being rude was probably in her late 20's or early 30's idk. All in all it really wasn't that bad just that brief minute or three.

So let me get this straight, she made you go take roses that you had ALREADY given to your buds mom who i assume youve probly known for years and give them to perfect strangers who you arent even sure are mothers? What a jeleous bitch. Im sure she has never bought flowers for people she didnt know. Sucks that she put you in a position like that lol.

Exactly, I had undo the orange ribbon, open the wrapping and pass them out to all the female adults there (regardless if they were mothers or not) and that made me an Indian giver too in a sense I guess, It was too weird for my taste, and yes I only knew my friends mother and here husband a little, not a dang sole else.
