Moving soon My girlfriend and I probably be moving down to Houston from Memphis to go to SAM hopefully in the fall. You guys have a suggestion on a good area to live in that's close to the school? We were thinking around Katy but we are open to suggestion.
Honestly, I live a few minutes away. The area close is not always the best, but there are some decent places in the area. It does get $$$ though. You just have to look. Where is your gf going to work. It depends alot on what you want to spend and what you are looking for (Apt, house...how much space, etc).

We haven't had a chance to look into jobs but someone just posted a job in here for the Katy Area and i'm quite interested just need to get into the school first. As far as my girlfriend she has worked in a veternarian clinc for the past 6 years and can do pretty much anything. Anyone know of any animal hospitals in the area that does work on horses and large animals? Far as apartment goes would like one hopefully with a garage but not manditory. I've been looking at some and would like to find one in a good neighborhood for $500-800 a month.
Decent apartments in Katy are going to be closer to 800.

If she wants to work in the Spring Branch area near where you will be, Village Veterinary Clinic is very good. I take my dogs there and both vets are very nice. Most of the people there have been there for years because they like working for those vets.
I would go to cypress. We live at 290/beltway 8 and it is about 10 minutes without traffic. Nice area out here. Joe's goes down to SAM all of the time and it takes him about 10 minutes from our shop. Good jobs out this way also for the girlfriend.

Water shouldnt be much, $30, electricity seems to vary from $100 to $200 at times. As mentioned, if you want to stay out of the crappy neighborhoods, look to pay at least $800 for a 1 bedroom. Good luck with your move.
Well its official. We will be moving to Houston at the end of July. I got the job and start SAM in September. My girlfriend is currently applying to all the vet clinics and emergency centers and with her resume and letters of recommendation she will probably be able to write her own ticket any where. I'll be going back down the weekend of the 19th to settle on an apartment. Can't wait to get down there. See you guys and gals in August.
We decided on Katy. It will be extremely close to my job (for a change) and fairly close to school and many of the clinics my girlfriend looked at are very close plus it looks to be a very good part of town.
It's a good side of town.... just stay West of the Beltway. Unless you have a fetish for traffic.
