ALL-TERRAIN VEHICLES 13
TRC §663.037. OPERATION ON PUBLIC ROADWAY PROHIBITED.
(a) A person may not operate an all-terrain vehicle on a public
street, road, or highway except as provided by this section.
(b) The operator of an all-terrain vehicle may drive the vehicle
across a public street, road, or highway that is not an interstate or
limited-access highway, if the operator:
(1)brings the vehicle to a complete stop before crossing the
shoulder or main traveled way of the roadway;
(2)yields the right-of-way to oncoming traffic that is an
immediate hazard; and
(3) makes the crossing:
(A) at an angle of approximately 90 degrees to the
roadway;
(B) at a place where no obstruction prevents a quick and
safe crossing; and
(C) with the vehicle's headlights and taillights lighted.
(c) The operator of an all-terrain vehicle may drive the vehicle
across a divided highway other than an interstate or limited access
highway only at an intersection of the highway with another public
street, road, or highway.
(d) The operator of an all-terrain vehicle may drive the vehicle on
a public street, road, or highway that is not an interstate or limitedaccess
highway if:
(1) the transportation is in connection with the production,
cultivation, care, harvesting, preserving, drying, processing,
canning, storing, handling, shipping, marketing, selling, or use of
agricultural products, as defined by Section 52.002, Agriculture
Code;
(2) the operator attaches to the back of the vehicle on top of
an eight-foot-long pole a triangular orange flag;
(3) the vehicle's headlights and taillights are illuminated;
(4) the operator holds a driver's license, as defined by Section
521.001;
correct....for an ATV that hasn't been converted. Once converted to meet "street legal" requirments its considered a motorcycle.Unless the laws have changed.

Just get a scooter, better MPG, less cost, and less hastle. I actually just ordered one of these.........http://www.genuinescooters.com/scoot...r/rattler.html
Going to be fun with the 160cc cylinder and all the go fast goodies. Planning on building a 250cc turbo honda ruckus as well. Scooters are way fun.

One of my neighbor's actually called the cops on me on Saturday for riding my raptor in the neighborhood. The cop told me she basically didn't give a **** about me riding it, but said since someone called she was required to ask me to stop. I asked her if there was anyway to make it street legal, she told me there is no way to make it legal to ride on the street in Texas.

and you'll get just as much conflicting information from cops as you will from anyone else.

the best way to find out for sure is contact the DMV or your local registration office.

Default Don't put down what you think is the answer. Research it!

Go to Arizona. Buy a street legal quad. Register it in your name and get insured. You may drive that ATV anywhere in the U.S. Even if the laws vary from State to State, they have to honor the registration of other States. Can you drive with California license in Texas? It's the same thing!

I don't know the answer but my neighbor daily drives his 2 seater razor all over town and doesn't have any problems. He has lights and license plates on it and street tires.
