This affects all of us at some point in our life. All you can really do is keep looking for work and really lean of family and friends for help. I would say that you will be sucking for a month or two but make sure your bills do not make up 80% or more of your income.

Also at your age its impossible to try and save money but you wanna try to save up at least 2-3 months worth of salary to keep this from happening again.

I am surprised nobody beat me to the punch on this. I will pray for you man and hope your situation gets better.

start looking for a job that doesn't have to do with bodywork, it shouldn't be hard to find one by the end of the day.

sounds like you were pretty close to living in debt when you HAD a job also, you might want to cut back on some expenses.

other than those things, you're not hustlin hard enough.

Sorry to hear that Thomas, you seemed to be in the right frame of mind and without any worries when we hung out last Friday. I'll keep an ear open for ya and take the guy's above vice and maybe try a different field of work. Try the food industry, there are always hungry people out there that dont want too cook and there are too many people out there that will drive around for years with the same dent, gash or what have ya in a car (i.e. me). If your up for a meal on me and are in my area (call me first) stop on by and we can talk more about options.

I have been there man and i feel your pain. i started the same time you did, im now 24 and have just about got my self back to zero debt and i make very good money. If youre not gonna be making 1000+ a week paychecks you pretty much have to cut out all luxuries and useless spending.

Make sure you file for unemployment if you are eligible.

Selling stuff only delays the inevitable. Spending as little as possible and making money faster than expenses is the ONLY way to get out of debt. Let the parties you owe know of your situation and what you are doing to prevent default, evidence will get you more sympathy.

Keep trying to find a job in your area. You may need to get a job from a temp hiring agency. They don't pay too well and they take a few weeks to get started, but everyone shy of that bum with a needle in his arm can find work. I worked on an assembly line getting a whopping $7.25/hr but it helped. I got paid more working for the Gallup Organization.

good luck

Hit one of the big construction compaines up and start off as unskilled labor for now.
If you want to stay automotive, try SafetyKleen or their competitors. When I got on they were willing to do what needed to be done to get you a class B CDL. You'd be in and out of body shops all day so you could network while on the job.

These aren't nice jobs but it is money. Both got me through rough patches. I even did the sub teacher gig for a while.

Have you tried collecting on unemployment checks since you were laid off? Your situation is exactly why the government setup that program

Try waiting tables. Youll have cash in hand at the end of each night and you can still spend your days looking for a real job.

Hit up your local union halls.....Start out doing bitch work as a laborer and you'll make 16 and hour atleast and well a few years and if your a good worker 20-25Hr....That would probably pay your bills.

I'm about there myself. A little different of a situation, but the bills are stacking up since my last job ended.

I was fortunate enough to have 4 months salary saved up, getting ready for an LS2 or LS6 for the Z... but bills are bills, and they come before toys.

Like everyone else said... it may be weird, but a job first, a job you like second. Priorities are very important. It might be a shitty silver lining, but experiencing this while you're young will be good for you, and it is much easier to recover long-term from this sort of thing while you're young i've found.
