A few have put down over 300 tq with a bigger turbo swap. Nothing crazy, but for a "good gas mileage car" it doesnt get much better.
It gets better MPG than the stupid Smart cars they're selling now. I'm getting 700+ miles a tank.

Diesel-flavored pizza. mmmmm....
Yeah, Venkman's car is f'ing hilarious now. He can pull in the parking lot and you look over it... trying to see where the 18-wheeler is that you think you are hearing.

I love this thread.
Im curious about something though, and it was already partially brought up.
Can you give us a run down of how many gallons your gas tank is and a closer number to how many miles youre going on one tank? At this point it would seem that for as high as diesel is, you wouldnt really be gaining anything.
I do like your car though, i love diesel cars. I think they might finally import the 118D BMW which boast 63mpg

I believe it works out to be about .08/mile whereas most 4cyl gassers are .15+/mile
I fill up around once a month for $50-60.

I can feel the love here for the Prius We got one a year or so ago for my wife, and I gotta admit, it's really grown on me (except the ugly as sin part).
Anyway, a more fair comparison for the Prius would be the Passat, which has identical cabin/cargo space and is in the same class (mid-size sedan, i.e. Camry, Impala, Accord, Charger). The Jetta is a compact sedan (i.e., civic, corolla) which is a significantly smaller car in comparison. We really, really had our heart set on a new Passat and looked at them first, along with a used TDI. In the end we had to decide between getting the Prius, which cost less, was more reliable, got better mileage, and better crash test results vs. not looking
Unless you buy a Prius, that puts down 295 ft-lbs @ 1200 rpm from the electric motor and another 82 ft-lbs from the gas motor (both of which can power the wheels at the same time), and stock for stock is faster than your TDI. But hey, it's not a race car - if I want to go fast, I'll just hop in my '67 Vette or my LS1 T/A.

You get better mpg when you do intake/exhaust.
With a chip only, you can get mustang gt torque and 50mpg.
With a small turbo upgrade, they can put down a little more than stock ls1 torque.
Mine has full 3" exhaust. It's more fun to drive once than a Prius is to drive till the wheels to fall off.
No $4000 battery pack to replace either.
