Default Whats the best way to ship wheels/tires? and through which company?

Should I just cut cardboard to cover the faces/rears of the wheels and tape them on there? Do you guys think I need to put something to protect the face in between the rim and the cardboard? Or should I Just put them in boxes? Which carrier usually has the best prices when shipping something like wheels?
Thanks
Patrick.

Fedex ground...get the big boxes to fit two boxed wheels in them. Ive paid ~$55 in the past for a set from Houston to chicago.
