I would love to help get this started down here.
One problem:
I travel way to much. Would never be home to get anything together (Maybe)
But would like to come home and have a place to hang out..(Organized)
What are the rules for a staff member???
I also have a brother that would like to help out (94 LT1)...

You need maybe 3 people for a staff. You can get away with 2, but its a chore.
Basically you will need to have a promoter/ organizer- someone who is get the meets together and put out information.
Then you will need a organizer/administrator that can keep track of records and
swag ( shirts, decals and etc )
So once you get this then we can talk.

Area 51 was a good spot but we need somewhere to hang that we have owners permission. Which is probably harder to get than i'm expecting just i'm tired of getting run off for nothing.

believe me, its not that hard to do. Find a resturant and talk with the manager. Let him know that you are a car club and the meet is for 18 and up. most managers love the business these gtg bring.

I'd be interested in helping out but cannot promise the full extent as an 8 hour a day stint. I will try to listen in on what is expected of "staffs" etc. Houston being big might need to be divided into 4 mini chapters? I'd be willing to take a try for the North quad if one would exist.

I have to say...... being here in Dallas, i originally thought these "Car Clubs" to some extent where fake and gay. I have to admit that most of the fellas from LSM in the DF-Dub are pretty cool people and the intent of the "club" comes across nicely. Rock out with your **** out and have a good time with your LS1! Well, yall get the idea.
After watching groups like "8th mile Performance, Dangerous Performance, True Street Performance, R i c e k i l l e r, etc.... you can see that LSM isnt some dumb honda lovin, rice munching, group of homos who like to stare at cars. As long as there is some fun and action..... I think the meets are almost as entertaining as raggin the car out at the track.
You fellas from Houston should take advantage of an identity and have fun with it!
Just dont let Zach come down there with business cards.... he can kill some trees with them *****!

Don't get me wrong, I'm not down on the idea of a Houston chapter. I just think we need to preserve the core reason of the club. To be true to the original intent of LS/M you'll need to have tech meets. Remember LSM is primarily about helping each other get to the next level, not just having meets and racing although we enjoy that too.
Getting a shop to "host" you is where you need to focus also. I say host because it doesn't require money like a sponsor just time for some tech meets which needs to be geared around what the shop can and wants to do. You will need to work closely with them because if they're too busy, then no tech meets. If they have some cool builds/parts setting in the shop and they want to show them off....tech meet time. If as a club you have a member that can do a little tech session (like a shift light install) then by all means do so. Just a note, this is not a "put my car on the lift and work on it" or "do my cam swap" event. That is much too time consuming plus there are liability issues for the host shop. Tech is more of a discussion or show and tell deal, maybe even a small how to. My fabbed 9" is a great example. We may be able to see it before and after depending on when it arrives and Gil's desire to do so, and we can talk about the install and pros/cons of fabbed over cast, but we will not watch the install. Shop time needs to be seperate from club time.

If you folks down in Houston can muster some momentum I would be happy to discuss the idea of getting a Performance Shop to host club meets from time to time. But, it will require some serious participation.
Our Club would not be what it is today without the direct involvement from Zach and Shannon. The club is what you make it.
Good Luck guys! Keep me in the loop!

You guys heard it from the man himself. Gil is the Lonestar Muscle car club founder. Believe me when I say that if he offers a hand, take it. Everyone that mailed me!! Post up and get this thing going. Post up even if your just interested and can make some meets. That way we can get a rough number out there in houston and start kicking *** in south texas.
