The car we were Tuning tonight has a tight 3200 stall converter, my Stage 2 4L60E on a Compu Shift stand alone controller and Xtreme Horsepowers 347cid LS1. We were lowering the shift points from 7200 to 6800 in order to help the engine long term. It was running 7.8x's all night with the best of 7.84 @ 87.2 on a 1.78 short time. Best pass was the last pass. It's a 3,600# '57 Bel Air for those of you who weren't out and might read this.
Just as an FYI... he was leaving off the foot brake early on and was seeing 1.72, 1.74 60'ft's and was running 7.86 - .89's all night. The last two passes I had him flash the converter off of idle to see how it reacted.... the 60' fell off predictably but the ET and MPH picked up. We ran it twice like that.
Next week we are going to be rotating his 4,000 rp stall converter in it and retuning it for the Muscle Car Challenge races that are coming up soon. He won his class at the race last fall. We're looking for .50's... we'll see. I would be happy with mid to low 60's. But until the air gets better I'll be happy with what I can get!
