Default BBK vs. MAC, Which system is better?

Hey all,

I you opinion which of these deals is better:

BBK - (will wrap the headers with heat tape/wrap) will have to pay s/h
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...065748468&rd=1

MAC - No tape needed, can p/u locally w/o paying s/h
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=260275955303

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thnaks everyone!

I'd look at pacesetters for that price range.

Neither. The MACs can be modified to make good power with some 3" collectors, but you would be better off with a real longtube. I have a quality FLP setup for sale.

I have MAC Mids on mine, that came with the car.

Im satisified even though its killing my power with my cam. Im not going to mess with the headers untill I can save some money for some kooks.

I would go with MAC for exhaust stuff IMO.

FLP makes a quality header that flows well. What happened to the weld job on the passenger side Y Pipe? How much you asking for that whole system.

I welded that myself and was running out of gas on the welder. It could easily be cleaned up. I'm asking $500 for the whole thing. I have $400 just in the ypipe.

Thanks for the tip man, glad to see we are less hostile!

And, I agree, I went with the MAC set-up, I found this guy through a co-worker, and he sold me this set-up brand new (headers & Y-Pipe) for $320 cash...

I think it was a steal considering it retails for $550 + tax & s/h. It was meant to be.

Any suggestions on tips? I am looking at one of the following two options:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...092584130&rd=1

or these...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...258506512&rd=1

I like the duals better, but I like both. Price and compatibility of course play a role in my decision.

Ha,

One more thing...

Should I keep my existing Flowmaster muffler, or should I p/u something like this?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...282914473&rd=1

Of course this is going to be an "off-road" set-up w/ no cats and O2 sims, and I dont want this thing to be any louder than it will be, in other words louder than ****.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Good deal on the headers!

Since you are putting on headers you should replace your whole catback system also. You will probably be able to find a good deal on a used one.

Some are louder than others so post up what you find.

This is a quiet catback and one I used to have (had a cutout on it also)

https://ls1tech.com/forums/texas-classifieds/976832-dual-dual-catback-pro-5-0-shifter.html

That is way overpriced tho, I picked up my used dual/dual at MTI for $100 a few years ago...

i had mac headers on two of my fbody daily drivers and i really enjoyed the torque pickup i got from them. i could shift my m6 formula before 1700rpms in every gear without bogging or feeling like the car was struggling along to get up to speedd

Yeah I have heard good and "ehh..they're ok" opinions on that line of headers. But, I already bought the Mac header+ypipe new for dirt cheap. Thanks for the tip though.

Got everything installed. Damn this car runs soooo much better! More power, more torque adn definately a much richer and aggressive tune exhaust sound.

The only down-side to the whole swap, is that I see now how much a catalytic converter saves on emissions. Jesus...this thing pumps out smog like crazy! Is this normal?
