Thumbs down dont take your car to!!!

Rutland Transmission.....it has been 2 months that my car has been down and has not been up constaly running for more than 10 miles at a time. Earlier in the week i brought the transmission up to them and told them that it went out again, and Lyndon thats the owners name, told me that they dont want to work on it cause it my computer is messed up in my car, and they cant be rebuilding it over and over cause that is not covered under warranty and that i need to fix my computer problem first. He keeps going on and on about how that my car has too much power for a 4l60 and i need a th400 and yada yada yada....i finally tell that if it is not in the damn computer (for the record i have a 2004 gto that has a cam and full bolt ons) and there are plenty of other people that have cam only cars that have 4l60's. Well he pretty much tells me that i am wrong about all of this. Now i am rather pissed and i leave Rutland and while i am on my way home i stop by another transmission shop and i start talkin to them about all of it and the owner says well lets just take the tranny apart and see whats up. So while i stand there watching them take it apart we come to find out it was a builder error. Now being more pissed off i take the parts back up to Rutland and show them and they dont really have much to say about it and they just tell me that we will rebuild it. So great i think my car will be ready later on in the week being this is like monday. Today i called up there to see if my transmission was ready to be picked up and Lyndon tells me that he was going to give me my money back and to come pick up my transmission, and when i arrive there he says that there are better paying jobs that are more important and that he cant be wasting his time on me. So i already dropped my trans of at another shop and they will have it done early next week. All in all DO NOT TAKE YOUR TRANSMISSIONS TO RUTLAND TRANSMISSION!

so for such the long rant and bad spelling and grammer!

Should have went with a sponsor on this board. The chances of getting screwed over are much lower.

There are a few reputable transmission shops in Texas I can think of off the top of my head.

I have had Lyndon do a few transmissions for me and friends and never had any issues. He did a great job on my blown 383 and daily driver cars. If I need any more tranny work I will be going back to Rutland.

I also like checking out his race cars when I am at his shop....it sure beats going to your average tranny shop.

It sucks that you had a bad experience with him.

he has several race cars in his shop out back. I saw them at the track a few times and they were pretty fast. I am sure he built all of those.

we are only hearing one side to the story.... also keep that in mind.

Also note that they probably dont have power this week either. I know Spring got hit hard bye Ike. I have always heard good things about them and know them. They are good people and arent like what you are saying. We are only hearing one side of the story. It is also common for another shop to bash another shop ,I work in the business so I know this. What parts did you take to Rutlands that are screwed up and can you post pics of them? I bet that Rutlands has built thousands of 4l60e's and havent had many problems. He gave you your money back as a service to you. That says something there. Until we hear both sides of the story I cant believe any of the jibber jabber by the keyboard bandits. Oh and yes the computer can cause problems with the trans. Was this a bench job or an in car install? Josh
