I had Lloyd Elliot work his magic on the intake manifold. I also pulled off the AFR rev kit. It appears that one bar was resting on the rivet in the Cometic head gasket and causing a "teeter-totter" and therefore tapping the bottom of the head. I have machined a small recess to fit the rivet and will re-install, probably with Tony's help. I hope that makes the noise go away. Scared me. I thought something was really wrong, but all lifters and all cam lobes (that I could see) are in perfect shape. I also drained the oil and there was no bearing material or any other metal in it.
