Red River Shoot-Out
Fortunately for Texas, he has a few ideas, too. A playbook from stops with Auburn, the Miami Dolphins, LSU and Valdosta State is about four inches thick. Players say they've used only a fraction of it.
He also has experience beating OU in a big game. He was the architect of LSU's defense in the '04 Sugar Bowl.
The heart of his philosophy? Harass the quarterback. Ask Jason White, sacked seven times.
The Sooners are a vastly different bunch from the Sugar Bowl team, but Muschamp's approach is still correct.
Even better, he tunes his defense to the personnel on hand, not the other way around.
Case in point: Until Muschamp showed up last spring, the most unfulfilled talent on Texas' roster might have been Woodrow Wilson's Kindle. In his first two seasons at linebacker, he had 31 tackles and a half sack. He didn't start a game.
In five games this season, Kindle has 2.5 sacks and 21 tackles and a penchant for disruption.
The difference is that Muschamp has lined up the 6-4, 239-pound junior at defensive end. He's even put him inside Orakpo.
Colt got KTFO by my Wildcats 2 yrs straight, by 20 at UT...
OU got asswhipped by my Wildcats back in 2003...
who cares...
it boils down to who wants it more and which team will play hard to the end to get it.
OU wins this one. screw the over-rated (year-after-year) Horns. Colt won't get it done, period...
have you watched any football this season? TCU held OU to 25 rushing yards and there have been 5-7 upsets of ranked teams vs. unranked teams......yet a team with arguably one of the best defensive coordinators in college football doesn't have a chance cause the horns are overrated with one of the best QBs in the country???

wow, I would say were underrated and flying well under the radar this year.
this OU game is finally gonna put us on the map... hopefully the young guys can handle it.
Why don't you represent your "wild cats" and act a little bit classier and with poise.
My heart says UT. Three years in Longhorn Band ought to tell you where I stand. Texas' defensive front seven is REALLY strong, and I think the Sooners O-line will have their hands full. Other teams (like Baylor) have been able to move the ball against OU, though I do question just how much effort OU was putting into these games.
I'm voting with my heart, and hoping my brain is wrong.
Hook 'em!

i will admit he is better than years past...
upsets have happened this season, like seasons before this one and likely seasons after as well. mute point...

thanks for bringing up a team that is:
a) sub par to UT, TTU, OU
b) this thread is about UT vs OU NOT ksu wildcats
c) coming in here just to talk about close victories like 2 years ago @ manhattan (i think we lost by 1 after terrible play calling by davis)
please, NOBODY here is remotely worried about the power house called K-State

b) again like others who drew from the past, so did i. you're choosing to only go after me, not any others. i merely stated both have in upsets. nothing more was said about KSU after that. you're the one calling me out for no reason. unless you're bitter for the upsets. i dont know, you tell me...
c) no disagreement about the direction KSU is heading. Prince needs to go. BTW, you lost by 3 that year...
funny, you call me out for supposedly starting crap, yet infact, it's you...
Likewise, in order for Texas to win they are going to have to show up with a lot of heart. If not, this one is a loss. I really think that Texas has the weapons to pull this off, but it will require an A game from everyone and ZERO turnovers.
ps. mute point...
