By now you've probably read or seen YouTube evidence of his slightly psychotic sideline behavior. He screams, he curses, he chest bumps players, he head butts them. But Muschamp doesn't simply incite riots.

Fortunately for Texas, he has a few ideas, too. A playbook from stops with Auburn, the Miami Dolphins, LSU and Valdosta State is about four inches thick. Players say they've used only a fraction of it.

He also has experience beating OU in a big game. He was the architect of LSU's defense in the '04 Sugar Bowl.

The heart of his philosophy? Harass the quarterback. Ask Jason White, sacked seven times.

The Sooners are a vastly different bunch from the Sugar Bowl team, but Muschamp's approach is still correct.

Even better, he tunes his defense to the personnel on hand, not the other way around.

Case in point: Until Muschamp showed up last spring, the most unfulfilled talent on Texas' roster might have been Woodrow Wilson's Kindle. In his first two seasons at linebacker, he had 31 tackles and a half sack. He didn't start a game.

In five games this season, Kindle has 2.5 sacks and 21 tackles and a penchant for disruption.

The difference is that Muschamp has lined up the 6-4, 239-pound junior at defensive end. He's even put him inside Orakpo.

wow, anyone can bring up the past...

Colt got KTFO by my Wildcats 2 yrs straight, by 20 at UT...

OU got asswhipped by my Wildcats back in 2003...

who cares...

it boils down to who wants it more and which team will play hard to the end to get it.

OU wins this one. screw the over-rated (year-after-year) Horns. Colt won't get it done, period...

have you watched any football this season? TCU held OU to 25 rushing yards and there have been 5-7 upsets of ranked teams vs. unranked teams......yet a team with arguably one of the best defensive coordinators in college football doesn't have a chance cause the horns are overrated with one of the best QBs in the country???

Plus SSwt00SS, we are having and have been having a great football discussion without having to have threads locked, please keep it that way.

Why don't you represent your "wild cats" and act a little bit classier and with poise.

My brain says OU. Sam Bradford is tearing defenses apart, and UT's secondary is going to be great in a year or two, but they're still learning now. If Bradford gets time, he will carve them up.

My heart says UT. Three years in Longhorn Band ought to tell you where I stand. Texas' defensive front seven is REALLY strong, and I think the Sooners O-line will have their hands full. Other teams (like Baylor) have been able to move the ball against OU, though I do question just how much effort OU was putting into these games.

I'm voting with my heart, and hoping my brain is wrong.

Hook 'em!

all around OU is better, as i stated before. so dont accuse me of instigating anything/trying to get a thread lock. your post holds nothing to it. thanks...

I voted UT, just because I feel it helps TTU in the big picture Should be a good game either way!

thanks for bringing up a team that is:

a) sub par to UT, TTU, OU

b) this thread is about UT vs OU NOT ksu wildcats

c) coming in here just to talk about close victories like 2 years ago @ manhattan (i think we lost by 1 after terrible play calling by davis)

please, NOBODY here is remotely worried about the power house called K-State

a) as of late, sub-par to many teams. infact i think 83 teams NCAA are head of us. mute point...

b) again like others who drew from the past, so did i. you're choosing to only go after me, not any others. i merely stated both have in upsets. nothing more was said about KSU after that. you're the one calling me out for no reason. unless you're bitter for the upsets. i dont know, you tell me...

c) no disagreement about the direction KSU is heading. Prince needs to go. BTW, you lost by 3 that year...

funny, you call me out for supposedly starting crap, yet infact, it's you...

Like chup0kabra, my heart, vote and prediction is with Texas... my brain on the other hand is with OU.

Likewise, in order for Texas to win they are going to have to show up with a lot of heart. If not, this one is a loss. I really think that Texas has the weapons to pull this off, but it will require an A game from everyone and ZERO turnovers.

I'm guessing you've seen maybe one or two college football games this year right? What are you trying / failing to prove?

9/10 times the team with less turnovers wins the Red River Rivalry.
